Sounds like sort of thing you'd make up with generic white racism, kind of falls flat when they end up being coloured. But I'm sure a lot of the assault did actually happen, they're just trying to push up the charges.
Also in Kuils River the difference between white and coloured becomes very blurred, they start to speak the same Afrikaans, look the same, drink the same etc.
