Fourth wave COVID-19 warning for SA

Waves will come and go. Science shows us that. Same with Covid waves, it will come and it will go for always. Just get used to random lockdowns and once over, we move on again.

That's one of the reasons nobody should focus on cumulative data over long periods of time. Rather look at periodic numbers (weekly, monthly or yearly), or rates of mortality, and compare to previous seasons (or waves, or countries).
This is what happened in the past, but suddenly this time we don't

Of course their will be a fourth wave, its when the NCC decides it is time for one.

I don't get the great concern and sudden caring about your wellness wrt getting vaccinated.
Statistically speaking, in this country, you stand a much greater chance of being killed through crime than the virus and nobody gives a **** about that, yet everyone seems to want everyone else to vaccinate.
I've taken the vaccine and also had covid before that, yet it is my wish that the taxi driver that's going to cut me off in traffic tomorrow morning, remains free to decide not to vaccinate......

You should recheck your stats because the virus numbers 87k deaths in 1.5 years equating to 158 deaths a day. Compared with crime at about 30/50 a day. Not sure about your stats but it looks like the virus got you beat. And remember that 87k is likely an under report.

You personally are you concerned about the virus or concerned about crime?

The CSIR officially declared the third wave over tonight on national TV.

That will now allow for the elections to proceed without hindrance and makes it possible for the 4th wave to be declared in time to bugger up the festive season.

Irrational me is more concerned about crime but I probably should fear the virus more even given the smaller odds for me. Crime is still relatively easier to avoid.

Right. With a survivor-bility rate of 93%.

Let's just hope our vaccinations provide some degree of protection. We have about two months if the forecasts are correct. The third wave was really rough for SA.

We're likely to kick off a wave right after election period. We can hope there's no new variant. I'm not sure why Geoff and co. think the waves are planned by government for nefarious ends.

New let an opportunity to profit from any crisis slip by.

Your reality check for the day.

If 30s is old. Point is people in their 30s considering themselves healthy have died. I eat good, exercise, no issues but I'm not going to claim it can't get me.
We have nothing to fear but fear itself.
