Hi

I am in the Fourways area on the 705 XXXX exchange (apparently somewhere near Monte). Although I am on the 4Mbps line they have had to reduce this to 2Mbps or else I cannot sync - I used to be able to sync at 4Mpbs without issues but this became a problem about two years ago. Does anybody else have this same problem?

Also does anybody know if/when this exchange will be upgraded/changed to 10Mbps? If not I will need to reduce my ADSL line rental to the 2Mpbs option once Telkom has done all the speed upgrades - no use paying for something I cannot get.

Any advice or insight appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry Fourways exchange will be upgraded :D Hope for better speeds soon

I never knew slow ADSL could make one so angry.

The Fourways exchange (465, 467, 511, 705) has been 10Mbps capable for quite a while (not all DSLAMs but certainly the main IMAX). Sounds like you may have a local lead cable fault, what is your distance to the exchange?

BTW wacky thread this :wtf:

Thanks for all the replies, wacky one excluded :erm:

Roman4604 thanks for the insight - not sure about IMAX/DSLAMs but certainly don't have anywhere near 10Mbps if I have the right location for the exchange I'm about 2.5km away as the crow flies. How would I go about determining a local lead cable fault?

Can anybody on these exchanges confirm whether they are getting 10Mbps and if possible let me know how far from the exchange you are.
