Hi All,

I'm hoping someone here has the know-how to help me.
I am planning on upgrading in the next month, however a sudden fear has gripped me.

My Upgrade plans are as follows :

Motherboard - Foxconn P35A
Ram - Kingston HyperX PC2-8000(2gig)
CPU - E6750 Core 2 Duo
HDD - Seagate 250gb 16mb
Vid Card - XFX 8800GT XXX
PSU - Coolermaster Extreme Power 650W
Case - Coolermaster RC632S

Now the main reason for this thread is : Will this Foxconn motherboard support both the ram as well as the video card?

I Know its a Crossfire board, but I am struggling to find a decent P35 normal board. So CAN I run a Nvidia based card on a crossfire? I'm not worried running 2 cards in crossfire, just the one card will do. Worst case scenario ill upgrade to a Radeon next year, after they have released the 3000. and then in the future i can always go crossfire if its really needed.

I have already emailed Foxconn and their reply was very basic "Sorry we havent tested either of these products, so we cannot say". Great help

Anyone that has any idea?

Also, am I making a mistake with any of the products I am buying? I havent upgraded in 3 years.

if you want to run raid your will be the S

p35-S
my advice to be honest is go with gigabyte or asus

highend stuff does not come better than both of these companies

personally go for gigabyte as their boards include RAID, you dont need a higher board to get raid

not sure wy asus and foxxconn dont give you raid on certain boards

not sure what your budget is but gigabyte's build quality is the best you can get

Thanks for the advice,
Any idea which of the Asus Mobo's I should go for then? It seems like they are all Crossfire as well, and the features seemed semi the same for the same price range from my suppliers.

I read this article on THG and it seemed that the Foxconn wasnt a bad buy considering the price of the other boards. http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/06/19/eight_p35-ddr2_motherboards_compared/

Also which company supports the chipset mentioned in the article you linked? AKA the : NVIDIA nForce 680i LT SLI chipset.

Well I had a look at the Gigabyte P35-DS3R as well.
The price difference between the two is basically R300.

Right now I dont plan on using Raid to be honest. I never have, and doubt I will really ever utilize Raid.

The Gigabyte seems attractive to say the least. But will it really be 30% better , as its price is?

well kemo

for 300 bucks i would go the gigabyte as far as i know its got 8 sata ports 2 are for raid

the build quality of gigabyte is the best in the business

personally i would pay the extra, you get more sata port and raid, i know you say you wont use raid but would it not be nice to know if ever wanted to test it you could without having to buy another mobo

True, True.

And there is no Wait-Time on the Gigabyte. Where the Foxconn has an indefinite waiting time.

Thanks for the help and advice :)
