FRAUD WARNING

I had the same incident happen with me, this was regards to FTTH.
Quoted my full details with address and number etc so obviously I thought it was real.
Arrange to see him Thursday.
Suffice to say, I had a Telkom issue pretty much the same time, spoke to the guys from @TelkomZA (Twitter) and they denied knowing anything about it.

Thing is, it's happening alot (obviously)

What is Telkom doing about this?

have had that aplenty... I did not allow him in.
My parents bought a house from some ducker who ran away from all his debt... they sent the Sherriff to attach goods... EPIC FAIL. Duh... Mr Sherriff we bought this house from Mr. Smith, please go away!

Same thing happened to me and it's the guy who used to own the house before the guy who I bought from. When the sheriff started leaving messages I phoned him and set him straight

Had the same thing here and the guy said they would be wearing Telkom badges on their shirts as well.
I told them they could come, but no-one ever pitched.

Another incident, unrelated but it seems to be the same thing:

Had people come to my gate 20 minutes ago, claiming to be from Chubb, offering a "special"
This despite the boards clearly being on the outside wall that I am linked up with another security company.
I didn't let them in. They then left, and I noticed they just walked up the street.

Now I have had enough alarm systems in my life to know that security companies don't require door-to-door sales. I also know how Chubb works, have had enough kuk and drama with them over the years.

They are frequently targeting my house, the other day we found criminals had jumped the wall and when they saw me coming they ran like their lives depended on it...

these are "probes" i.e. to see who is home and how many of us are here.

Be vigilant, people....

Friend of mine did door to door sales for ADT last year.

Another friend of mine was recruited by Telkom to push LTE like mad a bit earlier in the year. She would phone up people and offer to upgrade their internet to a faster wireless (LTE) connection. They were all pushed to get X amount of sales or else so a lot of them went above and beyond the required call of duty. This coincided with quite a few "suspicious" telkom visits/calls that some of my clients got. I was quite sure that it was LTE/VDSL/FTTH related every time.

If telkom calls me and offers me X. I will always say yes. Always. That does not mean I'll allow them into my house by default. We will chat the thing out over the phone or outside the house if they are walking about the area.
