So this morning I receive an SMS from FNB alerting me to a debit order (for R129) and advising that if I did not authorise it I can reverse and cancel it in the app or online. Now I don't even have the account number for this account memorised. Let alone having given it to some scammers for whatever the ****! Looking online it looks like these fraudsters hit a number of FNB accounts over the past few days. Something about a co. selling shopping vouchers :wtf:

Not a single debit goes off this account, it is a simple easy save for me to keep money I don't want to easily access. Damned scammers.:mad:

Debit orders smaller than R200 are simple enough to cancel (or reverse if you're quick enough) through FNB. If you act soon you shouldn't have much of a hassle.

Do you even read, bro? There are no debit orders going off that account. I do not give out that Acc number for nothing.

All they need is a valid account number. Something that can be generated. However, they'd inundate themselves with bounced debit order requests and charges, and the banks will be quick to act on someone with a high failure rate on debit orders.

Do you still get statements in the post? Or did you opt for email only? Was your email or computer compromised? are you the only one that knows this account number?

My R129 went off yesterday morning, the reporting sms neatly disguised between all my other notifications for valid debit orders, I could have easily missed if did not have to reverse one of these every month.
