Free Basic Electricity - 50 Units

Ah, so you have to request? Will give them a call. Thanks. Trying (and managing) to use under 80 units per month.

Woah! Do you not own any appliances? The lowest I've ever gotten down to is 30 units per week, and that's only coz when my bro is away I don't cook, and the geyser is only one for a short while once a day.

Haven't been cooking much which is why I increased it to 80 units

how much is 80 units ?

Cost depends on how much you buy. Bought 75 Units for R100.

Found this in another thread :

You must check the confusion this causes with people who rent houses that use these meters.
Every time a new tenant moves in you have to explain to them how the retards at the municipality couldn't care less that the the new tenant now has to pay extra because of a previous tenant.

The only alternative is too disconnect the electricity when a tenant moves out, and re-connect when a tenant moves in.
What a pile of carp.

I also used to get the free units, but it stopped after the recent price hike.

Same here. I haven't received my 50 free units for many months. The tarrif increases are also ridiculous. I used to get 468 units when I threw R500's worth of electricity in, but now I only get 377.

Woah! It's cheaper the less you buy. Also, the free units are once a month, so it's better to buy monthly than to buy for a few months at a time.

yeah howcome the costs are different at different places ...

i dont buy but when i did i noticed

The costs are the same everywhere. The costs vary depending on how much you buy. The more you buy, the higher the rate.

I know. I always buy at the beginning of each month, for that month. Maybe I should rather just put in R300 next month and see how many units I get. I only purchase at the beginning of the month and then again towards the end if need be.
