Remember seeing the same thing in Helsinki a couple of years ago and thinking the same thing, but how long do you think they'd last before disappearing?

Sheesh, this is france we're talking about, not SA. Holland has a cycling setup that makes this one look positively miniscule, and they don't have too many problems with stolen bicycles.

Actually the bikes are not free. The first 30 min is free thereafter you pay, at least according to CNN.

You could steal a lot abroad if you wanted. For example in Austria newspaper vending machines allow you to take
more than one copy of a paper while in Japan bus tickets are paid by dropping the appropriate
amount of money (which the passenger determines himself) into a box on his way out, no-one checks it.

Yea .. Holland are absolutely cycle MAD!
I saw a shed near a bus stop and went over to look .. I guess there were like 3000 bicycles there, and I managed to spot about 50 that were chained, the rest were just standing there.
Amazing.
