Free dialup while you wait for ADSL

What is so special about that most ISP's link a free dailup account to your adsl account.
Telkom should give you a few free hours of surf time during the wait. The cost of the dailup account is least of your worries call cost is the problem.

Bwaaahahahahahahahahah ... this kind of crap makes the management and planning peeps at teklom take LONGER to provide the ADSL service requested, cos they could just make more out of the poor saps using Dial-up than they will from the ADSL implementation.

THIS IS A NEGATIVE MOVE.

Although subscribers will be liable for the cost of the dial-up calls, they will be able to access the Internet right away and there will be no limit to the time spent online.

Their statement of free dial-up is misleading. Mayhaps the ASA will be interested in this one?

If they say free, then it should include the telephone calls as well. In this instance, it would be more honest to say "free dial-up account while you wait"...

did mybroadband get paid for some of the marketing here? should read "Free MWEB dial up ACCOUNT while you wait for DSL". COME ON!

Essentially MWEB are saving you what, R30, R40 while you wait.

Whatever.

Certainly misleading IMO, considering that the actual account cost is the smallest component in the dial us cost model.

This would be awesome if the dial up call cost was also free as it is in many other countries...

I would think that going over the 30 working days limit should result in free dial-up (calls) and without a callmore crufew

Great fun...but it still costs a fortune to *use* the dial-up due to Telkoms stupid rates. Fail.

Better than nothing, if all you want to do in the short term is start using you new email addr & a bit of Googling.
I suppose I'm just frustrated with the overall situation that makes such half-hearted ideas necessary.

WebAfrica throws in dial-up access with every account as soon as it is created, so this is nothing special:

http://www.webafrica.co.za/adsl/complete/

And before I get rapped over the knuckles, I am in no way affiliated to them. I do believe however that good service and forward-thinking should be rewarded in this country as it is very rare.

i can't ever imagine going back to dialup!

mweb, biggest rip off on the planet, there prices are totally outa control!!!!!!!!
