Greetings

as you can see in my sig i'm trying to start my own forum

Now what i'd like to know is if anyone knows of a website i can host my forum on that will give me access to it's ftp files. It must be free too.

The place the forum is currently hosted at (phpbb3now) sucks! It was free but there is no support at all and the support forum is not accepting any new registrations. Furthermore i cannot access the ftp files so i'm very limited with as to what i can do on the forum.

any help will be appreciated.

Why don't you just register at a free web host like byethosting and create your site and/or forum with the Fantastico auto script installer? It would be free, very easy and you will have more control. Of course you will be able to get FTP access to your site with most free web hosts.

No they did not close down. They are fine, why do you think that they closed? You can also try www.0fees.net, which is quite good.

Are you specific about having hosting in South Africa or would overseas be fine?

a google search for "bytehosting" came up with results saying they're closed and their site is down

nah. it does not give me access to the ftp files. 0fees seems to be the best FREE thing so far. Busy installing the forum there now.

Can upload files as big as 450mb at a time

What else would you do with the FTP files... would like to know what else I'm missing on?

My site has been upgraded.. you will see its changed a bit... but how would accessing the FTP files improve it?

By accessing the FTP files you will be able to install mods, smilies, ranks, styles, avatars etc on your forum

I tried registering an account with 0fees, but when I click on the verification link it says "Sorry this account can not be activated, please sign up for a new account and try again."

Any suggestions?
