Is there such a program that offers all the same advanced features as Acrobat Professional that is free/open source?

I scratch around for an alternative regularly, but nothing is quite as good.
Adobe Reader, on the other hand, is the most arrogant piece of software on my machine. Every update (and they are apparently required almost every month) it insists on placing a shortcut on both my desktop and the root of my Programs menu. I pride myself in a very well organised start menu. Who do the azzez think they are?

If there was, Adobe would not exist.

Try aiming a little lower if you want something for free :D

convert to word. convert to pdf. merge multiple pdf files. comment add text revise etc etc.

Just work with word and print to pdf.

There are several sites that let you convert to word if you need to.

LibreOffice lets you import the PDF's into writer. Edit and reprint. I know that's probably not the solution you are looking for. Acrobat Pro is a really good product, but some competition in the market can only benefit us.

I am not too sure that it has all the features that you might need but I've been quite happy with Pdf-xchange for some time now. :)
