Free satellite TV operator launch date revealed

Perhaps I am being obtuse, but where on Earth will their funding come from? Advertising revenue alone surely isn't sufficient...

Given that the channels are FTA.. I would assume there is no massive fee to pay for having the channel... therefore advertising is probably more than adequate.

Okay they aren't funding end user equipment at all - which prices have over the last 20 years dropped considerably. They aren't paying for any of the channels that are FTA already there isn't overheads - except for channel authorization and whatnot concerning ICASA (Dom?); now if somebody wants to provide a free channel they will need to pay Platco - and I assume the idea is that the channel operator will have to do the broadcast licensing speel with ICASA. In essence they are a signals distributor and are doing what Sentech should have done years ago.
