Free Self-Hosted Remote Assistance Server/Gateway

As the title says: I am looking for a preferably free method of setting up a remote assistance gateway or server, so that wherever I am, I would be able to let the user click on an icon or similar and for me to see the initiated connection and to remotely connect.

Now I know there are other free software that would allow me to connect to a user's pc from anywhere, but i would like to host my own remote assistance server.

There is this Ultra VNC single click that works great but you have to set it up to point to a certain IP. what if I am out of town and my notebook has a different IP? Could I setup a dyndns ip updater on my notebook and configure the ultra VNC Single click with the Dyndns name instead of the IP?

I have done exactly this with the Vnc SC.

You can simply create an free no-ip or dyndns account & have a client update it for free when needed.

Then simply enter the ddns name instead of IP.

VNC SC, Team Viewer, LogMeIn, Windows Remote Desktop (A bit of port forwarding)

All will work nicely. If using Windows Remote Desktop (MSTSC) or VNC you'll need to use a Dynamic DNS providor.

EDIT: We use LogMeIn for business purposes. Works very well, has an option to chat with the user before you initiate the remote connection, access passwords, Windows Update notifications etc.
