This may be a silly question but please bear with me. I have a DSTV decoder but not a DSTV subscription. Can I watch free to air channels like SABC and Etv by connecting my DSTV decoder to my TV because they are unclear with a normal aerial.

Go to PEP and buy an Openview decoder.

My Openview decoder just got stolen. I want to know if I can watch free channels in the meantime using my DSTV decoder, until I can buy another OVHD.
It has been a very long time since you were able to manually do anything with a DStv box besides watch DStv. It is essentially a satellite cable box.
You will have to subscribe to DStv's entry level package which is R29 per month to see the basic channels,

Get a new Openview decoder
OR
Get a DVB set top aerial, assuming your TV is fairly new and has a DVB tuner.
