Free Usenet Server

Thanks for this.. I grabbed a 3TB block account.

Newsgroupdirect?

If so use this server
Opera Snapshot_2020-05-02_135730_newsgroupdirect.com.png

As long as that server is running that means your account is unlimited data. Saves your block account for later which is nice.

Been a long, long time since I NZB'd. Are European providers still preferred due to their slower take downs?

Doesn't matter hey. Usenet changed so much in last year or so. They now pay other providers to backfill content that is missing or got DMCA so you will likely always get the content. The NZB clients also changed and adapted. They allow you to set priorities. So set your free and unlimited usenet account for example

news.afrihost.com
speedium.nl
unlimited account for example newsdemon,frugal,fastusenet.org,newgroupdirect,eweka ect

and others you might have as Priority 0 means they will be used for always downloading.

Now see what you have and get a cheap block account on another backbone and provider like free-usenet.com and set that priority to 99,98,97,96 ect. This will mean Block accounts will only be used for missing items which are few. Block accounts are cheap once off accounts that usually last very long so they are ideal to keep just for missing items.

There are quite a few cheap providers out there.

$4.95 - https://www.fastusenet.org/signup/usenet-signup-promo-4k.php
4.99 Euro - https://www.eweka.nl/en
$4.99 - https://frugalusenet.com
3.99 Euro - https://www.vipernews.com/en/

List can go on and on. Good to keep up with /r/usenet on reddit

I grabbed the one from Newsdemon (already been using them in the past).
I do have plenty left on my freeusenet block accounts, so this will be a backup.

Wow too much.

You can get 2 x unlimited accounts for that price.
Yeah , that's expensive.

My 3TB block account was $15. Very good price and I could pay with bitcoin (which is doing rather well the last week or so) :)

The speedium free one is great! 20GB no issue at 70mbps via VPN node in France

They do appear to obsfucate article names. Had to manually find and rename the par file to check and rename sub files - but much faster than free-usenet.com :)

I use FileBot for that but unfortunately it's not freeware but works pretty well.

@cavedog what nzb indexer do you use? I gave up on Usenet as I couldn’t find decent indexer and decided to go iptorrents with monthly donations to avoid hit n run warning

$3 a month unlimited data, 100 connections

$15 for 500GB per month for 24 months. First 2 months unlimited data via their covid server block accounts has unlimited data

If I may ask how much are you paying I'm pretty sure it's not that low.
I'm paying $5 for fastusenet pm.
Works for me

Hello Ladies and Gents

I see Free-Usenet is down for the last week about. Anyone got news on it ?

Looks like free-usenet.com is dead. Damn.. I had some 1-2TB worth of blocks on there..

Should have known all those buy 1 get 1 free deals were too good.

Even the mail bounces now : [email protected]

Yeah what a sad day! I had like $100 affiliate monies I was going to spend on block accounts. :(

I don't think they just folded. I think the big Usenet companies took them out.
