Vlive internet

I dont feel bad at all for using da internet for free i enjoyed & loved it.And now i will use it only if i need to.I knew it cant last for ever to have free internet.

Browsing on the portal itself is free and you don't pay for the data when you do a download. You DO pay for the content you download.

If you navigate away from the VLive protal onto the 'normal' internet, you start paying you relevant data rates, just as if you're now on the internet apn.

This myth is a myth!
I saw this with my own eyes. Remember....the vlive apn i believe is now a normal apn just like the others. That connection was a 'normal' connection then. DAP downloaded the file(s) @ about 2/3 kbps when i left the guy that day. I got a copy of the files on CD yesterday(16/08). ATI Drivers-35MB, CheatbookDB06-22MB. Total of about 57mb...@R2/mb = R114 . Charge was more than that as that was not all that was downloaded!

For those not in the loop. :confused: You had to use the vlive portal through proxy 196.6.128.12 which didn't allow downloads larger than 8mb in most cases, larger than 6mb in some places and up to 11mb in some (local) places.

I checked my balance before, and after I connected to the internet, and saw that I got charged R3.21 for 1.15mb. Then after a while I checked my balance again, and I now have R1 more in my account.

The connection drops every 2 mins, sometimes I can't even download data when I am connected. For the biggest (non)service provider in the country, you sure do offer crap service.

But yar... Luckily my contract expires end of the month, and guess what, I won't be renewing it. Not while VC charges R2 a meg, when I can get it for R0.50 from Virgin Mobile.

So...
 
Well you can still browse live.vodafone.com on your pc on the vlive apn without paying so it doesn't have anything to do with the device you are using. ;)
 
OMG........... THEY COULD HAVE WARNED ME!!!!!!!!!!! its chowing my airtime like a street hawker in Smith Street!!!!!!!! nice one vodacom... im heading off to Virgin mobile. nothing personal but they are 200% cheaper......

I think the idea was to not warn us. :p Pity the poor sobs on contract whos connection doesn't stop once they hit zero. :eek: :D But then anyone who's stupid enough to use it with anything but a prepaid sim deserves anything and everything they get. :rolleyes:

Was discussed quite a few times that the hole is being plugged. Also, only affected pre-paid users, contract users always paid.

I feel more sorry for the guys who bought the 'secret settings' from that guy in J-Bay on Bid or Buy. He gave a guarantee on Bid or Buy that it'll work for at least 30 days.....wonder if he is refunding people?
 
ha ha yes that is true. he probably did not know that free net would end so suddenly. anyways, jus for interest, who is the techie in here that is checking the prodigits forums out the whole time?
 
v3g just btw, was it you who told the engineers at voda to close the flaw/hole or were you guys already preparing to close it?
why not give us some details of how this tragedy happen?
