You mean the Open Systems Interconnection Reference Model?
Pity Vodacom didn't follow such a tried and tested example of modularity in implementing their prepaid system then we wouldn't still be waiting for ppdbs.
Still seems puzzling that it can take over a year and a half to rewrite the software to duduct money from your airtime balance when you buy a bungle and then deduct the data usage from your bungle balance when you use it.
Don't feel like dwelling on the Vodacom subject though. Vodacom says there's no secret rooms where secret people have secret meetings to decide how to scr*w subscribers for more profit. Well, their own tariff rates were a prime example of this. You don't like your standard rate then go over to the smartstep option to pay cheaper rates after the first minute. But, oh wait, if you make a call during off-peak you get charged the same rate which if higher than the standard rate so not a good option if you make calls mostly during off-peak. Choose the per second plan which was sold to millions of unsuspecting people through a 4U plan. But, oh wait, I forgot for a moment that if I make 90% of calls during peak like most people probably do I would be paying R3.60 per minute for something which should come as standard anyway. And we can still have a conversation here that Vodacom does not try to screw people by obscuring the charges you would be paying.
But I don't want to talk about that as we all know this already and Vodacom can't prove otherwise. The goats are still running around though. Connected through different settings today and got charged for data sent and received like expected. What was unexpected though if that I was also charged for sent data only and for received data only on two different occasions. Don't know if it was the settings or just an anomaly. Have a bit of airtime to play with in small increments this time.
