Hey guys,

My wedding photographer is shooting his 150th wedding in April and is giving away a free wedding shoot worth R10 000.00 as a result. If anyone is interested have a look at his BLOG at http://www.agapestudio.blogspot.com/

He is really good (won Wedding Photographer of Year 2009) and I am not getting anything for posting this so please don't call this spam - weddings are expensive and every little bit helps!

Good luck :D

If we pay for his plane tickets and accommodation, will he come and do my wedding in the Limpopo Bushveld?

I bet if we took his prices and matched them against other 'really good' photographers, he'd be so damn expensive!
And his reply would be: "Well, I was photographer of the year in 2009"

pfffffffffft!
I'd give one of my aspiring-photo buddies a chance :)

Actually he is not that expensive.
Start looking around at photographers and you will see people charging outrageous prices for very little work.

Example:
There is a few photographers that only shoot the ceremony and 2 hours before the ceremony. They refuse to do reception. Then they still charge you R15'000 for the shoot and 120 photos.
R10'000 is not that much for the quality of photos and the time he spends taking them.
Although I must add that 10k is slightly out of my budget range.

And when they #$#%#$-up - you can thank them 30 years down the line when your wife looks at her 'photos'

Most of the places I queried were between R4000 and R20000.

I think it's a lot more work than people understand, plus all the equipment doesnt come cheap.

A lot of people dont like the idea of taking a chance with some guy and his canon point and shoot when they're spending tens of thousands on the rest of their wedding.

I've just spoken to Charl, he says the shoot includes 100km travel - the rest will be extra...

Sometimes in life you get what you pay for and i have a feeling when you look at your wedding pics you may think hmmmm i should have hired someone who knew exactly what they were doing :D. Unless you are getting married in court then i guess it would be fine but too pay thousands for a wedding and be left with crap photo's well i would be upset.

Oh yes. I fully understand that.
But I had a look at a price list last night and was shocked.

R17'000 for about a 3 hour session. (+-2 hours before ceremony, and 1 hour after and including ceremony)
Add R6'500 for 3 hours of reception coverage.
Includes 80 prints.
2 x A4 enlargements
5 x A5 enlargements

Add R450 if you want the 80 edited photos on a DVD.
R1600 for a coffee table album.

We can unfortunately only afford to spend R7'500 on a photographer. Holding thumbs to win this competition though.
Photos are really good quality and very nice attention to detail.

Ok - that is a little excessive.

Good luck with the competition.
