FREEDOM !!!!!! Tsvangarai has WON !

any news contrary to Zanu-PF winning is great news

For sure, but the MDC declaring from its own results that he's won is a long way from the "official" results reflecting that, and even further from Bob et al accepting it.

But he declared!
The battle lines are drawn.
The British even brought the carrot out.
Bob will have to go into exile if he does not concede.

Harare - Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change on Wednesday declared its leader Morgan Tsvangirai the rightful winner of a presidential election, based on its own tally of the weekend polls.

The party's secretary-general Tendai Biti said Tsvangirai had won 50.3% and President Robert Mugabe had won 43.8%.

"That means he (Tsvangirai) is above the 50% threshold needed to avoid a run-off," Biti told reporters

"Put simply he has won this election ... Morgan Richard Tsvangirai is the next president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, without a run-off."

I'll wait for the official results (and give them some time to finish counting that sealed ballot box that will be found suddenly) before I start celebrating ...

Yep, he said he won the last one, and got himself beat up.

"MDC: Tsvangirai has won
02/04/2008 14:04 - (SA) "

Also.. anyone heard from Bob today? If I was him I would have bailed and dissapeared... wonder if he will hang around...

Yes you are, haven't you heard the news these past days? Yesterday morning the MDC had already claimed victory based on preliminary count (although the ZEC had to still release figures as they do now)...
it's not new dude.

OT: This guessing of who won reminds me of the 2000 US elections. :D

Yes, I saw a similar headline on CNN last night.. but is it the same announcement?

What I'd like to know is HTF does Mugarbage still manage to get 43% of the votes?

42% fake votes weren't enough to rig the election.
1% didn't understand how how voting works. They think if you draw a cross you don't want that person :D

For sure, but the MDC declaring from its own results that he's won is a long way from the "official" results reflecting that, and even further from Bob et al accepting it.

The figures the MDC are using are actual ZEC figures, that were made public at each individual polling station.
The slow pace of results through ZEC has been managed to make it look like the parties were neck and neck.
A flurry of results on Sunday, then nothing more than a trickle since, dodgey at best.
There is sculduggery going on without any doubt, and Zim neighbours are in on it, including SA.
Reports of talks to get Madbob to step down, negotiated settlement etc are probably all happening, but without the MDC being included hence them saying they know nothing of such talks, as MadBob and SADC are not happy with the actual result and an MDC led Zim.
I wonder what our new bestest friends, the Chinese are saying as they have bankrolled Madbob.

Harare - Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's ruling Zanu-PF party has lost its majority in parliament, according to figures announced by the electoral commission on Wednesday.

Latest results gave the opposition Movement for Democratic Change 105 seats while an independent candidate, Mugabe's former information minister Jonathan Moyo, also retained his seat in the 210-member chamber.

The results mean that Zanu-PF, on 93 seats with only a handful of results still to be announced, has lost its parliamentary majority
