Freeware to create full HDD copy in iso form?

Need to make a full copy of a laptops hard drive as I need to reformat it, and files are pretty much stored everywhere. So I dont when I reformat want to lose any files, so I can have the entire system backed up on a hard drive and if files are needed, its in the iso on the HDD.
So I need to create the iso using the laptop itself - taking out the hard drive and using another computer isnt an option.

Any decent, reliable, easy to use freeware that does this?
 
You can clone any hard drive, including an OS drive via Acronis.

Then you restore it to the drive of your choice at a future date.

Used it plenty

I dont want to restore the drive I just want the files on it. I just want an image incase my client says "Hey I need this file in this directory" Then all I want to do is mount the hdd image, navigate the directories then get the file and done.
 
Macrium reflect free. You can also use it to mount the image on the new machine and it will appear as another drive on your pc.
Have used it tons of times.

When a client asks me to do this, I tell them to include the cost of a new hard drive.
New hard drive goes into the laptop and the old one goes into an external enclosure.
It may add R500 bucks but they get an external drive and a full backup of their stuff! ;)

Just to clarify. ISO is an image of CD or DVD, not a hard drive. If you dra&drop individual files to the CD/DVD creation tool, you can burn it to the media or you can save an image file on the hard drive, it will be ISO. Is that what you want? Probably not, it is why people say in replies about imaging hard drive. After you create image file, you can use the same software to mount it to the new system, so you can see individual files and copy them as you wish.

Hey!
Thanks for the input, Yeah I know what an .ISO is, I only really phrased/was looking for it in .ISO because you can use sudo dd if=/dev/sda of=file.iso to create a .iso if your HDD, and I thought something similar could be done in Windows that could also make a .ISO of the HDD.

But there are a lot of helpful answers!

Clonezilla will do exactly that.
