Does anyone know what freezer paper is, and whether you can get it in SA? It appears to be something like wax paper, but it's plasticy on one side instead of waxy...

I want to try to do some bleach t-shirt stencils, and apparently using freezer paper is the easiest. Otherwise I'll have to try with contact paper.

Thanks, but that is a leeetle bit pricey :D

I wanted a bleach pen as well, but that's in the same price range.

I'm sure I can make do with contact paper instead.

I did see this somewhere....

Definition: It is a fairly heavy, white paper with a plastic coating (originally wax) on one side. Similar to butcher paper, its original purpose was for the wrapping of meat for the freezer. It is great for finger painting or making sewing and quilting patterns. Freezer paper can be ironed onto fabric and then easily removed, and, when removed it leaves no residue. It can also be used to stabilize fabric that is to be written upon.

And a search for butcher paper brought up a few suppliers in SA. And a lot cheaper...

There were others too, so perhaps a few enquiries about "butcher paper" might be worthwhile.

Many years ago a plasticised brown paper for covering school books was available from stationery shops such as CNA etc. I'm not sure whether or not this would be suitable or if it is still available. The plastic layer was fused to the surface of the paper.
