Frequent cell signal disconnects

Hi All,

I'm having really annoying signal problems with my new phone and hope that someone can help / provide some suggestions.

When I'm in my office, I receive 1 or 0 bars of signal from the closest Cell C antenna and 4 bars from a nearby Vodacom antenna.

If I let the phone select the network automatically, then it usually chooses the Cell C network. The result is that I have rubbish signal and the signal strength icon frequently shows no signal. This means I get lots of missed calls and voice mails.

If I manually select the Vodacom-SA network, then I will have great signal, but at some random point during the day, and without warning me, it will become "un-registered" on their network. So I find that if I don't constantly check the phone, then I can go for several hours without receiving phone calls or other messages. Additionally, the process of manually re-registering on the Vodacom network can take up to 5 minutes. Also not ideal

The phone is a Samsung Glaxy S4 Mini. I had similar issues with my blackberry, but it received a better signal from the Cell C antenna, so the issue wasn't as bad and I could leave it to select the network automatically.

This is what Vodacom do for all Cell C customers. Device stucks to Vodacom tower even there is full Cell signal and no throughput. As you have forced Vodcom manually, problem you describe cannot be attributed to Cell C towers.

Hi. Firstly, Samsung is rubbish at signal! I have one and my old Sony Ericsson has better signal reception and retention than the Samsung. While acknowledging Cell C's rather weak network it helps to get a better phone. My BlackBerry is also better than this Samsung thing.

I have always said that Samsungs are excellent mobile devices but not excellent mobile phones.

This is/was my first and last Samsung.

Entry level Samsung phones have up to the standard signal reception. I can't say in this case.
