Frogfoot Gpon FTTH Fibre Performance

I really hope the Frogs over compensate and give you guys enough extra backhaul to last years. This sucks. No reduction in fee. 1+ months now. o_O

They should just install 100 Gbics's everywhere first off and take the financial knock as it takes them so long to upgrade by the time they live with the fix it will be obsolete already.

Are you trenching from George from Cape Town Town.:ROFL::ROFL: :X3:
Funny thing, i drove from George to P.E last weekend. I saw a 3rd party fibre installer digging along the and laying fibre. It lasted until Knysna i believe.

This could be anyone installing ofcourse

Let's hope Openserve activates their fibre here as Frogfoot is throwing away their reputation.

Hey Conack, some advice, report ASAP and get hold of the head of NOC @ Frogfoot. This company operates in defensive and denial mode for at least the first month of a major problem. Its part of their corporate culture, the sooner you report this, the better.

Just thought I'd point out that you were spot on the money Lightpixel. It was a month of denial here too.

Ouch, Sorry to hear that. That's Heavy. They must move their asses as the national shutdown is soon for Fibre. Its very close to the builders holiday. Then nothing happens till the new year.

I tried to upgrade my Frogfoot Line speed today with my ISP, Atomic. Well actually yesterday. The Frogfoot portal is "broken" and thay can't process the order. I thought this stuff was automated. Click click done.
Did not realise its an email from the ISP to Frogfoot who then manually configure the ONT. :X3:

I REALLY am trying to give them the benefit, but Conack they have become Telkom dude.
Thank GOD for RAIN. I truly hope they disrupt the fibre market horribly in SA. If they succeed they will be our "other" option as the FNO's in SA is like a gentleman's club. They don't touch each other's turf so the bottom line is you are scr3wed when one does not deliver.

The choice of ISP's is an illusion.

Good Day,

Please note that Frogfoot is currently aware of a capacity issue on the backhaul between George and Cape Town. This is due to the unprecedented growth on our George network.

We are currently working with our Vendor to upgrade the capacity. We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to mitigate the impact to services as soon as possible and will provide progress updates as and when we receive them.

We apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Hi frogfoot, when do your contractor's finish this year in port Elizabeth, and when do they resume work in January.
Are there different dates for trenching and blowing fiber in ducks.

So they've completed during up the complex and installed this at the complex boundary fence... Who can explain what it is and what it does (just curious)?

The way they have it in our block is that box is the main junction

so all our internal lines and the outside lines to the node terminate there, then they patch in the lines from the outside to the correct flat using the plugs on the left

then on each floor there is a smaller version of that to patch the individual flats into the cables running to the main box

The advantage of this is if one of the lines somewhere goes bad you can patch a different one in quite easily, we had this happen already and it was resolved in a day

Edit: my bad I see the one label is "main feed" so its probably a splitter as thehuman said :)

I think we have the flat termination boxes dug into pavement.. These little black boxes..

Also not sure if the line to the outside world has been connected, they only completed this work on Thursday.
