So Frogfoot have decided to reduce the upload speed and introduce symmetrical products for more money.

20down/10up will now be 20down/2up

I do not upload a lot but when I do want to backup some photos or whatever I want it to be as quick as possible as the network is crippled while the upload is saturated.

Why do this? Its just infuriating.

Because, like you said, they want more money now, they problaby looked at Vumatel and saw, fark this, lets do the same, make them pay more if they want a higher upload speed

As far as I can remember, Vumatel now owns Frogfoot, so obviously they will be making the package structure the same as on Vumatel. You can always pay R50 more and get 20 upload.

Does Frogfoot not just manage the physical network? Packages will be determined by your ISP. With who are you? You can always change to a different ISP on the Frogfoot network that offer you a better package.

I don't think that page has been updated yet, the actual changes will come into effect on June 1st. Point is why put us end users through the hassle of having to change ISP or whatever. In the end we are getting less value on a product which is now configured the same way as ADSL.

Not to mention the claw back for the installation fee if I decide to jump to another ISP.

Vox bought Frogfoot in 2015, has that changed?
My mistake, I am probably thinking about someone else. They are probably doing it, because everyone else is, and people will be more inclined to pay a few bucks more to get a solid upload speed, because well 2mbps is just pathetic.

I get that, but my point was that Frogfoot does not set your package speed or price. Your issue is with your ISP. Who is it?

You are barking up the wrong tree. Your pain is work the ISP not the infrastructure provider. Fortunately frogfoot is open access so switch to another ISP of your choice.

I don't think the bold is true... Price overall yes but not the available speed options, but I am willing to stand corrected.

ISP is Vox.

I see WebAfrica's packages are reflecting the same speed for Frogfoot.

The problem is definitely the ISP, the Vox pricing model for symmetrical packages has always been higher than most other isps. Check out the compare tool on the frogfoot packages page and you will see what I mean.

There was never symmetrical options on Frogfoot, the upload was always half of download for all packages. I do not have proof but maybe someone in the ISP game can confirm.

Either way, very frustrating.

I believe you are incorrect on this, your line speed is determined by your isp. Here is a link to the options available on frogfoot infrastructure: https://www.fibretiger.co.za/network/frogfoot

Frogfoot only puts the physical fibre lines into the ground and into your property. Any ISP can use their infrastructure and set their own packages and prices. For instance, Cool Ideas, which has been reported as one of the better fibre ISP's, only have symmetrical uncapped packages. Other ISP's choose to have asymmetrical packages and/or data caps. It is up to their business model to decide. If they want they can even offer a 17/3.5 Mbps package, but everybody chooses easy to work with packages like 10, 20, 50 or 100 Mbps. Why they are limiting the upload speed to 2 Mbps now I don't know, since fibre does not have the same physical limitations as ADSL.

Yes, this is a Vox as an ISP thing. Cool Ideas are still symmetrical and haven't made any announcements to change that. If you are unhappy with the service, vote with your wallet and move ISP.

@Frogfoot Fibre Has become trash.

No better than Vumatel.

I received an email from my ISP that frogfoot is increase pricing. I was paying R629 & it is changing to R689 for 10mb uncapped. Prices should be decreasing.

Anyway I have cancelled, as I can no longer afford fibre.
