Frogfoot vs Openserve

Hi there

I want to know what is better to go with Openserve or frogfoot. If I go frogfoot thinking of going with 200-1gb fibre connection seeing as openserve only serve 200/100 and frogfoot is 200/200. I'm goign with Websquad as my isp seeing as they can give me static ip that I need and yes I know about Dynamic DNS but static ip makes it more convenient and reliable.

Only thing is according to Websquad they don't offer 1000/1000 on frogfoot networks where other isps can do it but it's just to much of a hassle to get static ip where on Websqaud it's a matter of doing a tick box and I know I'm getting my static ip.

We do offer a 1000/1000 (looks more like a typo on our site - thanks for pointing that out). The FF 1G package is a 1000/1000. Getting the site corrected now.

Cool. Also what is more reliable openserve or frogfoot?
 
It is a pain in the behind to work with @Frogfoot Fibre. You have to work through the ISP, even when a ghost screws up and completely wipes your line from their records.

I liked struggling with Telkom/ADSL, as there I could at least get something done. But that was ADSL, so I do not know if the same counts for the fibre side of things.

I'd like to tell you openserve is better, but I have nothing non-anecdotal to offer you as proof.

I have openserve fibre at home no issues but frogfoot we can get faster line. Faster line might be nice but if it's down every now and then it's a no go. With Openserve fibre you also go through the isp. Well in the past year at least no issues and now that I'm on 100mb I'm happy but for what we want to do a 1GB connection might be nice later on. I had a thread open before about FTTH vs FTTB and decided that FTTH will work out for us as we only need 1 static ip and Seeing as how realiable my fibre is at home can't see why I need the SLA. I can later on get openserve and frogfoot and do kind of bonded/failover.

We a small company and Liquid telecoms was the only way to get fibre as ADSL was so bad that certain companies had to move office and having to pay over R3K for a 20mb line is absurd when you don't use 5 static ips and so on. We have a guest house next to us and they also have fibre I think 100mb line and they fine with it every time I see them and ask.

I know openserve is a bit cheaper but they also give you half the upload speed
 
Openserve any day - I was on Frogfoot for 3 years and every single month there were issues with the line actually going down or having congestion - it wasn't here or there, sometimes multiple times in one week.

On Openserve now and it's like a breath of fresh air - it just works and you don't have to roll a dice to see if you have reliable connectivity.

The faster speed really isn't worth the headache and anxiety Frogfoot causes you to have.

Anyone else to confirm
 
Frogfoot still has double speed promo.

200/200 gives you 500/500 and 500/500 gives you 1000/1000 is your ISP allows the extra speeds.
 
I currently am on both, Openserve is far more stable

The installation etc on Openserve was also far more professional
 
Area across the road from me is frogfoot they basically offline minimum twice a week, and can hardly ever peak their fibre speeds because their always is packet loss. Openserve have had 0 issues in 2 years.

FF last mile is both good and bad... it depends a lot on your area though. Openserve seems to be good all over.

I also seem to recall FF having some backend network config issues every now and then; so they might not be as good technically as openserve (don't quote me on that though.. other regulars around here can confirm/deny).

Go canvas the neighbourhood and ask for FF fibre user's impressions. :)
 
< Wisp provider Got links on FF and Open. FF is ok when they want to be totally up to how their network and the area you live expands. Open is pretty stable, not had many issues apart from our main providers have issues.

As for capacity 1000/1000 on froggy is choppy depends on a ton. the 200/100 on Openserve isn't bad at all.
 
I'd switch to Openserve tomorrow if they trenched down our road. They chose not too and now I am stuck with Frogfoot (who I am on currently and are wildly erratic), or Vumatel (who are more expensive and will become even more expensive soon, and apparently are even worse than Frogfoot).

I was at my brothers house in Centurion over the weekend, and he has an Openserve fiber connection with Level-7 as ISP on 50mbps down and 25mbps up for R799, which is a great price. I tested the line and was very impressed with the service! Downloads as a bliss while streaming Netflix in 4K and everything we do on the internet is unshaped, while the whole house is connected on the WiFi - phones, tablet etc consuming data. Not one of the connected devices buffer or anything. I highly recommend Level-7 on Openserve.

Well, we watched our church service last night on YouTube on my V|ox 20/2 line. Took about 5 minutes to get going. DSTV decided to stop and then buffer yesterday during the England vs. India T20. I mean it was literally pixellated.
No uploads to Google Drive, no downloads, no other streaming and 2 cell phones sitting idle. Then it got going. It's stuff like this that annoys me to no end.

DSTV streaming generally sucks though. I can stream 2x 4k streams on Youtube and will sometimes struggle to stream 1080P DSTV. I think it's more on DSTVs side than anything else most of the time.
 
Is anyone in Cape Town having problems with Frogfoot? It was a bit wobbly yesterday but went off completely for me today, since this morning.
