From hobby project to production

I've created an electronics hobby project that has drawn the attention of a few companies and would like to obtain some advice on how to take the prototype into production. How may I go about obtaining more information on patents and the legal side of things, and have the product certified or rated in terms of RF or Wi-Fi communication standards etc. Is there perhaps a company or institution that can rework the schematics and diagrams from through-hole to SMT components that may be RoHS rated.
