Just done with my breakup with MWEB:mad: and off with a bang at Afrihost:D

Managed to get through to the Afrihost help desk in a couple of rings, spoke to Jan(very helpful:)thanks Jan) who suggested a package which was best suited for me.
Went online and applied, within 10mins i was active with Afrihost, this is not a plug and i am in no way affiliated with Afrihost. Was truly amazed by the service. Bear in mind that i already have a telkom landline and a previous ADSL line that i used for MWEB.

Hope our relationship going forward is an awesome one :D

By the way, its a 1MB Uncapped Business account i know its not much but just feeling the water before i dive in head first.

Welcome to pure internet joy!

You might want to consider Afrihost's capped packages. I'm assuming your line syncs at 2mbps. Unless you need a static IP, rather than getting a 1mbps uncapped business account at R297, get a 150GB capped package for R299. You will be able to utilise your full line speed of 2mbps, and the quality of the data is the same - unshaped and unthrottled. If you don't need as much as 150GB, get a smaller package suited to your needs, and save some money.

Don't forget to also install their smartphone app, so that you can monitor your usage from your phone, amongst other things.

If you migrate your line over from Telkom to Afrihost, you will save a bit more money too. You also get to initiate port resets by yourself, either from the ClientZone, or from the smartphone app. You can also check line stats (SNR, attenuation, sync speeds, etc) from the ClientZone and app.

Im on the 1Meg business with AH, nothing wrong with it. Unless you are impatient and need things downloaded faster the 1Meg is perfect.

Who wouldn't want faster and cheaper?!? :wtf:

Unless you need the static IP, or are pushing more than 150GB, the 1mbps business uncapped doesn't make sense.

After my experience with MWEB i'm a bit apprehensive so i took the 1Mb uncapped option to measure my monthly usage and line quality before choosing an option best suited for me.
Yes, i have a 2Mb line currently as Telkom don't provide 1Mb lines anymore but thats cool because i would prefer the 2Mb line anyway. Should be easier to upgrade when i decide to.
Seriously considering the capped option, which i never thought i would want before but i think the smarter choice when it comes to line speed reliability would be capped.
I do plan on migrating my line to Afrihost once its successfully transfered from MWEB back to Telkom. Did it to save some Moola but now that you talking about line stats i'm even more eager to do it...Absolutely love stats, dunno why:D

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
