Hi.

Please let me know from which US online-store I can order an iPod touch 32gb.

Apart from the touch being very scarce in SA, the price tag is ridiculous.

I wouldnt import it from ebay- remember we are dealing with the SA post office- my bro has had about a third of his ebay stuff stolen on route, and iv had at least half of my amazon parcels opened and then resealed for "my convenience" (apparently they dont have a need for blender 3d or photoshop textbooks...)

they would probably offer insurance with electronics though??

heehee.

Had a little chuckle on that one. :) Typical Post Office.

Luckily in my 10 years of importing I only had one parcel go AWOL. A Blender 3D manual that was bought from NaN, Amsterdam.

But yeah. More and more US stores dont ship to SA. Really is sad.

I tried that.

Got this email from MyUS:

"Thank you for your order.

Unfortunately, Apple's policy prohibits redistribution of their products. They have blocked some of our addresses because they view us as a freight forwarder. On their website they say their products cannot be exported. That being said, many of our customers have ordered successfully from other companies.

We have customers who decide to order their Apple products from other companies including www.newegg.com. You can find itunes gift cards many places including on www.amazon.com or on www.target.com. Additionally, you can find iphones on Ebay. Our Personal Shopper service can help you with any of those purchases!

Please submit another order if you are able to locate the item you wish to purchase in the future or on another website.

Do not hesitate to let me know if you need additional assistance.

Best regards,
Charlene

How desparate are you? If you're willing to trust a complete stranger? I'm flying to S.A. (from London) at the end of November.

Ebay, tell the seller to declare as "broken electronics" however to put in the full value of the item. This will help curb ppl poking their noses in your stuff

Make sure however the seller has:

1:good ratings
2: his feedback is ok i.e price of shipping, shipping time etc
3: price with shipping is reasonable.

You will pay around 14% tax on your item however this was what I paid. It could be more or less... if confused contact the postal services for import tax rates on this item

And remember to insure it, This will only be for loss but it is like 1% and will help you usually to get a replacement in a week of confirmation that it's lost.

Allow 2-6 weeks for delivery via postal services. 5 days to 10 via fedex. I buy almost all my electronics off e-bay. 2nd hand because if mentioned you will usually pay less tax and usually items are in pretty good nick :)

Thanx for the offer. Maybe I must wait till my next 420 dope-smoking fest in Amsterdam (april 20, 2010), and just buy the sheet from the apple store in De Heining.

Fork me sideways.

You can use companies like myus or bongous for your shipping problems from the US. Try to use www.shipito.com which is a company that can receive your orders in the US and send them to you. Also, if the store do not want to ship to them like it seems to happen with Myus. Shipito can go in person buy for you at the store. I used them in the past and it is pretty convenient too.
