When i try open a website in frontpage i get the following error "the folder (URL) isn't accessible. The folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or filename contains a / or \".
Iv spoken to about 6 "professionals" and no one can help, I have also tried this at another computer, my computer at home to be specific, which has nothing to do with the network that im experiencing the troubles with and at home it works perfectly. Which therefore leads me to believe that the problem lies here on the server within my office. I have set the browser to prompt for user name and password..... uhhhh I have downloaded Jimco open web, which didnt work at all. So im really stumped, the guy that set up the network knows nothing and just shifts the blame.
Please if anyone knows anything, I need to get this stuff done and Im fresh out ideas

Firewalls at work? Does frontpage have proxy support?
Just trying to understand the network setup. From home, you'll be on the internet directly, but at work, you normally have a firewall/proxy between you and the internet.

FrontPage does have proxy support - inherited from IE - however, the firewall might be set up to block the ports used by FP to ftp the files to the website - I had the same problem at work and bypassed the firewall by connecting my PC to 3G via my cell phone.

Have a look at Microft Expression Web, it is replacing Front Page

Lol
No choice about using frontpage, its what im told i must use.
However the so called network guy here says there is no firewalls or proxys, that was my original thought to.
Iv tried with homesite 5 and NVU also, the only other stuff i could get my hands on and the same problem, it pulls the homepage but doesnt actually connect to the web server, so if i update anything then it saves to my PC instead of the web server lol.
AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a wireless network here think im gonna try jump on there tomorrow and see what happens, dont think that has anything to do with the in office network. Might work otherwise you guys will be hearing from me again
Thanks

Thanks

Thanks for all the help yall.
Turns out the people that host our internet had port 21 the FTP port blocked on their firewall, even though i asked them about 20 times if thats the case and they said they dont have a firewall??????
Go figure
Anyway now im up and running
