Well I am at the point in frost mage's evolution that I have run out of frost talents to assign my frost mage. Anything useful in frost is taken all the way to Deep Freeze.

Seems I am only 63 and have a lot of talent points still coming my way. Should I put these into arcane or fire?

Arcane.

Improved Counterspell. Torment the Weak.

*edit* assumed you're going for a pvp build. Because you wouldn't go frost for PVE @ 80. That's like speccing Prot to DPS. For levelling it doesn't really matter, toss everything into frost randomly. It has some nice survivability tools (eg Ice Barrier and Shattered Barrier) that people tend to overlook which can help you out of tight spots.

I have no idea about mages but I'll give my 2c's :p

On my toons I just spec as much DPS as I can no matter what tree I level in. If i have grabbed all the DPS from that talent tree I move to the next one.

Once I hit 80 I do a full respec based on tried and tested talent builds from the net. I guess that is just my way of doing things, maybe someone with Mage experience can help you ...

Yeah its mostly PvP.. my frost mage shines in PvP with my only serious problem coming from Warlocks (I generally run when I see them). DK`s and other warrior classes have a lot of difficulty even getting close to me.. and when a DK pulls me to him ... its simple. Nova+blink+turn and frost bolt.

I love my elemental.. drop him.. run away from it make sure your victim is chasing you.. get victim between you and elemental.. enjoy the carnage.

Ive not added talent points into the frost talents that say "adds 1% damage".. perhaps I should?

My mage is only level 20 odd so I don't know what it's like to really level one.

That being said, I prefer to knock down mobs asap which makes my leveling quicker. However, survivability is crutial also. I would assume Survivability+Damage balance would be awesome in your case. Mages are a bit squishy :o

Mages are very very squishy. Fire is good for raiding but I prefer the PvP aspect of things. It was only around lvl 50 that my frost mage became less squishy.

I fought a lock this weekend. Basically took my entire mana pool.. but I killed him. Then that stupid Ankth kicked in so I ran away.

Any frost mages on mybb?

Yeah its mostly PvP..
In that case, 20/0/51 is probably the best spec available to frost mages. Remember, pvp is less about sustained damage and more about cc, survival and burst. So you want to focus on things like Shatter combos and spec more for better shields and for lower cooldowns than for improvements to your base nuke(s).
A well played frost mage is probably the most powerful pvp caster ingame right now, but it still takes far more skill than facerolling your way through as a dk or paladin. You have to learn about fakecasts, shatter combos, know when to use which abilities to counter others etc etc. Probably the only classes that could stand up to a decent frost mage are rogues and some of the healing classes (and ofc warlocks, bloody felhunters ftl), although the healers should give a frost mage less hassle nowdays.

I used to have troubles with rogues.. and I still do when I am not expecting them... but if I keep moving .. and unless the guy is really good. I can hold my own against a rogue and dont run from them. Just loooads of AOE.

I do have problems with the healer classes.. though I havent tried 1 vs 1 for a couple of levels.

Is there a link to that 20/0/51 tree that I can look at to see where to put my talent points in?

You just struck level 60+

Rogues will now become a pain more than ever. They get Cloak of Shadows at level 60 ;) Removes all spells and gives them 90% resist to all spells for a set period of time (15 seconds?) Good luck with that one :(

I hope so.. will be more fun.

So far in the game.. if I know a rouge is there.. its my kill.. if I dont know its there.. rogue kills me.

Im so rolling a healer as my next toon... trying to find groups is really hard. Trying to find a healer for that group is even harder.

On our server we often have paladins running as our healer.....

Getting a group for anything pre-70+ is a nightmare.
But once you hit Northrend it does get better, at level 80 you should have no problems. Best is to just level to 70 as quickly as you can :p. Dungeon from there on in. You can always go and check out the dungeons at level 80.

The Expansion killed anything pre-70

Yeah, seems everyone in LFG is looking for pugs for lvl 80 stuff. Im hoping to get to 70 by sunday :D

If Alliance could just win (for the XP) more often in BG`s I would be a much happier gnome.
