Frustration :((

Hi guys..

I recently got my new ADSL line installed at my new house..
It's great having ADSL again!! (I play COD2 online)

The problem is that every now and then, my whole pc just lags for a few seconds, and when the game pops up again, I'm dead etc..
This doesn't happen in my Singleplayer COD2 , so it must have something to do with my line.

I got the following info from my Mega 100WR router

Yup, sorry, freezing for a few seconds, then going on as normal..
My pc is a monster (E6600, 8800GTX), so should handle COD2 fine..
Everything was working fine when I were still living at my old place two weeks ago.

I assume you have Unshaped ADSL account which is recommended for online gaming?

Agree with sar... if you have a shaped account, then online shoot-em-ups are going to stutter

I play on the local SGS servers..
It's therefore not necessary to use an unshaped account..
It's got nothing to do with my ping (which is a constant 40-50ms)

Well, they do stutter but gameplay should improve after 5pm methinks. When corporates shut down, the network is aparently more leniant. Depends on Telkom. You might want to give a local only account a try for a month and see how that sorts you out.

Frag, in which suburb are you living in Bloem now ? I'm still not happy with my ping. Going to pay a visit to the fine ppl there at college square during the holiday, to get my connection routed via universitas' exchange where my friend lives, het gets pings between 25 - 40ms, where I ping between 50 - 75ms... and we both have 384k connections. I won't rest until I have the exact same ping as he does...

A friend of mine's got a 512kbps line , one street away from me, he's got a 20ms ping.. Think I'm gonna upgrade.

This will be REALLY difficult!!
But I've got a few numbers in Telkom that could help you (a specialist and a guy at IPnet who fixed our ping last time..)

Even if its local you might struggle on game play.

But I never had the problem till I moved...
