'FS University march racist'

The racist has and always will use the preservation of tradition and culture to ensure there is no interaction across the colour lines.

this brings back memories of the yengeni bull sacrifice bunfight. apparently culture is cool if you're black and sacrificing a bull to your ancestors or whatever, but not cool if you're a residence who is trying to instill certain insitutional values

Let us not forget either how often Europeans are accused of destroying African cultures, and of not respecting African cultures either.

About what you quoted, why do darkies piss their pants and call a racism card when the matter at hand has nothing to do with race, only real differences which should be acknowledged and understood.
A residence known for culture, in the heartland of Afrikaner land Potchefstroom, has a black student coordinating all cultural activities. He has won almost all competitions so far, goes to show that students with merit will never be excluded.
All this fuss, because officials know that some students will never be allowed in based on merit are pissing their pants!?

Trust me, dude, I know all about being excluded due to new AA policies, which are in IMHO also racist. However, this case, from what I have read, and from what you have said in its support, is a case of racism. Period.

Trust me, as having experienced first hand, these people are insisting on racism against themselves (entry to a residence based on skin colour alone and not merit). They are insisting on destroying a culture and tradition created predominantly by white people.

I am not sure I see your point here.

When you act stupid, you are stupid. Don't feign ignorance when your arguments are blown out of the water.
You know my point is valid and completely understandable.

Mature to bring my maturity in to question. lol. :)
Any rebuttals for the topic under discussion or have you run out of race cards?

You have some strange ideas to be sure. It is not a matter of race cards. It is a matter of racism. Do you understand the difference?

You need me to explain it to you?
If these were black students protesting against schooling in Afrikaans this would be a whole different ball game to you. See if you can figure it out yourself now.

You are forcing this thread in to a us vs. them argument. I am going to refrain from replying to such posts as yours.

Yes, it would be. Because that is something different.

No I am not. But you are free to reply to whichever posts you chose, as am I.

Forcing cultures together, with obvious opposition to such measures, will bring about more tension and real racism.

It is very obvious to me, interacting with candidates, who will not fit in to the residence and who will not. These people don't want to exclude people based on the colour of their skin, but on people who will not strive to achieve the objectives of the specific residence. An external party does not, should not ever have a say in such policy.
A company also has a right to deny applicants who will not fit in to the social framework of the company. Companies hire people based on merit, as the entry policies under discussion require also.

That sounds like it comes straight out of the Chris Heunis Separate Development speech book.

So in the new South-Africa..

AA is acceptable.

Cultures and traditions created and cherished by whites (predominantly) is to be destroyed. The strict entry policy ensures there are no people without the necessary merit, regardless of colour.

However..

Any policy under which black people will not have an unfair advantage is to be thrown out, as black students can not compete on the same merits as white students?!?! Makes me think there is truth to what supremest say, the black population seems to agree tacitly to that. Utter bull**** though I know; the new policy is just to spite the students, because they are predominantly white and it is an easy target which will hit hard in our hearts.

So let the people who do not meet the standard enter the residence, see what self-esteem those students will have once they realise that everything was handed to them on a silver platter, instead of earning entry, instead of earning their position in a company.

Isn't AA to ensure that people who did not earn their positions are replaced with AA candidates who do? Well seems to me that the ANC seeks to create a whole new generation of people who are oppressed.

Luckily there are only 5 million white people suffering under the ANC, of which most have the opportunity to leave this country. It is a good idea to piss of the students, with degrees who will leave this country with a bad taste in their mouths. These students are the cream of the crop, their generation.

As a student myself, we need little encouragement to leave this country. Today I received my passport and original birth certificate. Most of the birth certificates I saw, was for young students with Afrikaans names, who will want to leave the country. Immigration requires those certificates.

I am reporting my post for moderation, as I am sure I'm threading on toes now. :)

Heard something interesting last week at a School Committee Meeting from one of the ladies present.
She claims that her children (white) need to obtain 70 - 80% in Matric to get acceptance into University. I think she was exaggerating here, but let me finish the story.
She stated further that some of the Black Schools which have done poorly in the Matric Results and here she mentioned a standard average of 30%, where basically the bulk of the standard actually failed Matric, the Education Department, not sure if it was them, moderate that 30% up to 50%, so that I suppose more than half of the class pass.

She then said that what was unfair about the situation was that now her child who got possibly 60, 70 or who knows 80% for Matric is now competing with a student who actually got 30% and not 50%.

I sympathise that everyone needs to have an Education and that previously disadvantaged people have not had the benefit of a decent education and as a result may have struggled through to Matric.
But then build more facilities or do something, but never ever begrudge anyone an Education be he white or black with 30, 50 or 80%.

The point here is what if my son gets 52% for Matric, which we know is a pass mark with the new curriculum and should allow entry into University, but may not get acceptance into said University with the excuse that his mark was not sufficient enough, yet the bloke who only got 30% would jump the queue. Out of the two the former child is likely to pass a course at University. I am not sure about the other as University requires discipline and a lot of work.

My mom marks matric exam papers, in schools were every single child failed the paper, only 1 or 2 students actually failed matric in those schools. She checked the final moderated results in the newspaper.

I also know that students who do not receive schooling in their first language receive 5% extra in all subjects. That was matric 2003.

The government is not doing those failing students any favours, they arrive at university and believe they will pass, without opening a textbook.
They fail and get angry at the lecturers. Once a guy asked to see the exam paper, he did not actually understand that exam papers are kept secret and it not available before the exam date has passed.
Another arrived late 3 hours after the exam and told the lecturer he was ready now to complete the exam. rofl!

Anyway, I think the residences should vote in new policy, to ensure that people who do violate even the smallest rule is thrown out, somewhat like lex commisaria. People without merit, (academic, cultural or sport) will lack the discipline to adhere to the rules.
