I feel your pain, I live in the Chrismar area just next to Oakdale with fibre basically running past my door to the High School....

Phoned Telkom and they just laughed at me so I'm not even trying anymore....

Bellville might be low class, but the Cybernest (Data Centre Operations) building is in Oakdale *cough*
 
Hey hey - Come to Bellville and C Y neh!
Those fibre pipe installations 2-3 years ago running up Barnard street going underneath the N1 accross to snob valey......
That's like 75 metres from my home *&^%$ - Ai jai jai. Daar kom die Bellville nou weer uit.

I can smell the fibre data from where I am typing right now. :confused::confused::erm::erm:
 
Very sad..... (but ye. I doubt we'll gets da fibre)
 
We just need a few people to email Cybersmart (say they are from Cape Town, Oakdale)

I'm sure they'll pop in a node. Problem is. everyone is all around the area.. some might submit they want fiber to a different provider.. another house sumbit to a different provider..


So to all of them it looks like there's only a few secluded few..
 
When anyone gets anybody to install fibre, please don't forget about me in La Rochelle. :D

Do you know exactly what that fibre is for?
 
I know Cybersmart said they'll do that 400mbit Fibre (200up / 200 down) to Oakdale.

But they need an certain amount of people in the area to take Fibre. (maybe 10users or so..)
 
Hi, does anyone have the latest news re: FTTH bellville oakdale?
 
From Cybersmart's Lightspeed website, it shows that they now cover the whole Bellville (including Oakdale). I didn't see any digging though :

Dark Fibre Africa has the best coverage map, actually indicating active lines per street in Oakdale:

Vumatel has already laid a tube in my complex, as well as attached an enclosure to my wall.
