What if I told you that this afternoon I got a call from a property manager cancelling a presentation that we are supposed to be doing to a HOA, because they don't think fibre's necessary and "there's nothing wrong with their ADSLs" ?
Or, how about this one? Last year we were approached by a new shop tenant in a building that we'd previously cabled up, but not cabled the shop as it had been unoccupied. He asked us to put fibre into his shop. It was a very short run. The most difficult part was the fact that we had to use ropes down the side of the building to open up some of the junction boxes in the pipes. We ran the fibre and his little Chinese shop soon became the place where half the local Chinese community would conglomerate after hours to watch Chinese TV etc on line. The shop gets robbed a couple of times. The "owner" gets stabbed and his masters decide to close the shop down and redeploy the staff. The fibre obviously goes dead. Last month a new tenant starts shopfitting. I stop by, have a chat with the owner, explain to him what this strange box on the wall is in aid of, he pays me lip service. As soon as I'm out of the door he calls the building owner demanding that they send somebody to remove this "cable" from his shop, immediately.
Looking at the recent work in the wiring closet, it appears Mr Man now has his one telephone line with his 2Mb ADSL.
What hurts me about this one is that two buildings from there, we have a client who's ordered a 100Mb FTTB, but everything's on hold pending way leaves.
