Hi, I am in the process of deciding on which ISP to use. The infrastructure belongs to Telkom.

The following criteria must be taken into account for my decision;

1: I am not a large bandwidth user, but there are times when I exceed my limit, maybe 3 months of the year.
2: My main requirement is more about quality than quantity.
3: Consistent quality of throughput.
4: Ease of good customer service.
5: Usage will be to stream some sport, mostly rugby, watch a few movies (about 5 @ month), online gaming for the kids over weekends (average of 6 hours per weekend), mail and about an average of 2 hours reading research articles per day.
6: Location is Cape Town, northern suburbs.

I have narrowed my choices down to Telkom, Vox and Web Africa.

Question is, which one?

Regards.

Leon.

Lightspeed Maybe?

Lightspeed is not an ISP they provide the actual fibre infrastructure, I believe OP is asking what Telkom FTTH ISP to choose using the Telkom FTTH infrastructure (any of the DSL Providers will do, Just check that they don't have speed restrictions if your going higher than 40mbps fibre)

They are a ISP, just another division of Cybersmart, not sure where you got your info @ghostR.

@Leondorfling Have you tried giving them a call first? sometimes a little persuasion goes a long way. Anyways if you don't manage that, go Vox I've heard some good things about them. Web Africa is ok eish...
Speed wise and usage is a personal pref, I did take a look at web Africa and well I guess they have some interesting packages that are a bit better then what Vox offers.

Lightspeed is an ISP for their own fibre infrastructure only and not for Telkom Fibre Infrastructure - So in the context of OP's question, Lightspeed are NOT a Telkom FTTH compatible ISP, Cybersmart are - but really who would want to use them for Fibre if they can't get DSL right.

Fibre providers won't do home installation, unless it a apartment block, or a gate community where they install in every unit.

You might have to go with a Wireless provider to get the quality you are looking for.

most of the ISP's are still figuring fibre out.

in Defense of the ISP's out there. They are only as good in an area as Telkom allows them to be, or as their upstream provider allows them to be.

So I presume OP is referring to Telkom's FTTH. Then I'd say 300GB cap, pref vox or axxess.
