Hi Everybody.
I just wanted to find out. I want to put a slip-on on. I have a Kawasaki Z1000sx 2015 model.
I've read that to just put a slip-on on it won't influence the bike badly at all in the short term and the long term. I understand that that a fuel map and a ECU flash is always a good thing for a bike, but at the moment for my budget I won't be able to do it.
Main reason for a slip on is to be a bit louder, not the the point that I can't come open late in the evening and wake up people two blocks away. Now I know the "loud pipes save lifes" discussion is 50/50 with riders but regardless if I can control one more thing in slow moving traffic that works for me, with people on cellphones and just not aware of riders it really helps.
The thing that I'm having a problem with is the place that I'm buying it from is determined that there is a 90% chance that I *will* need all of that which costs a lot of money but other places I speak to, like the place I want to buy my slip on from say that there is no way that fitting two slip ons can influence the bike negatively. So I turn to you guys and girls, do slip ons cause any damage? I do want to do the mappings and all of that but that will have to be a bit later on. I eventually want to decat so I don't know if it can wait tell then.
I know this is probably a noob question but there really isn't much about it online from proper mechanics. I just don't want to get forced to do anything for a huge sum of money when there isn't any need, but also don't want to mess up my pride and joy. Haha!
