Disconnect the battery positive terminal before doing anything.

Can still spark and start a fire......

On my car relay for pump isn't marked, what's best way to find it?

No manuals that i have, no results from Google.

hi guys an update on this ongoing story of mine;

took the car to an electrician, been working on it since monday, no joy up till now;

says fuel pump has a signal that gets actuated from the ECU; says they can pick this up, and they definetly say my ECU is working;
say pump also works; when they manually actuate it, car dosent have an immobilizer as such, has a transponder key though;

they not sure what else could be the cause, they think my fuel is dirty; and I clogged up the injectors;
I did refuel from a petrol station on my way home (BP at grovender crossing at bryanston);

could this be the cause? could it be that my petrol is contaminated and is dirty?
what else can I try? anybody else have similar issues at that petrol station?

I do know I didn't make the blond mistake of filling diesel in a petrol car:D

what else can you guys advise?

Given the hassles you've had trying to get the car back to standard, maybe an insurance claim isn't the worst way to get it sorted out.

There should be a label inside the cover of the relay box show which is where.

found that label, but not exactly sure where is the relay; not marked anywhere, although did find a label for the fuse for the pump,

and that isnt blown; at this stage, am really confused as the professors of car mechanics cant tell me whats wrong here;
Im really not exactly sure whats happening with my car; its been there since monday and they dismantled all the wiring trying to trace the fault;

so Im really not sure these days whats really going down;

Did you see post 17?

yes, but Im not entirely sure how to check that? is it easy to do?

as per my understanding, it works like a distributor?

I did plug my ELM 327 and it did say injector pressure low on cylinder 1,2,3,4 could this be the cause?

Haha, most things in cars these days are electronic,

Here is a pic of an injector for my car. It has a 2 pin plug per injector, find the source of that power and check it. (or just unplug one injector and check the voltage)

TBH, not even sure where to find my power for the injectors;
its hidden deep inside the engine probably;

I dont have the manual, or a decent guide on where to find things in my car;

right now its with the mechanics, but they have had at least 3 days to get it sorted out, and they cant come up with anything;

so Im not sure what to think anymore?

what else can I check?
or can anybody recommend anybody in the JHB area I can maybe tow my car to them?

Dude instead of wasting money take your car to a mechanic! Last time I coughed up R10000 taken my car to a mechanic. One their workers told me they replaced the battery and viola car is working again. Check rhe battery I would suggest / disconnect and reconnect the battery connectors and see if this solves the problem. Good luck.

A mechanic with proper diagnostic tools such the ESI Tronic from BOSCH should give you more info of the issue.

question for you guys;

does saying I have a dry joint on my ECU mean my car mechanic is clueless?

I thought they already established that the ECU was powering up the relay/pump?

From your recent posts I'm wondering if the car is with a reputable business concern or someone operating out of their backyard, which is it?

What is this cambelt guard you speak of?

My car didn't have a cambelt guard,
In other words a stone could easily snap my cambelt, as you could see it turning from the belt side.

Everybody suggested if i want some piece of mind if driving untarred roads to have it fitted, my car didn't have one initially,
But all picanto has one i checked.

Drove with it for a while now, and I'm 100% sure its not snapped, even mechanic advised its not snapped, that's a relief,

The mechanic I'm using is a Guy who specialized in auto electrical, breno parts in bez valley, I'm dealing with a great chap called Albert, he trying his absoult best

He seems very confused as to what's my problem, says checked my entire wiring loom, all good, checked common things like sensors and switches, all good even says everything is in perfect condition from an electric side,

Says he not sure what happening with my ecu
Shows what it should show, sees "pulses" as the engine is cranked, so definetly no engine damage,

Says what i have isn't common,
Apparently a specialist is coming tomarrow to take a look and advise if he can spot the issue,
Apparently this Guy works on ecu's and knows French and Korean cars well.

One thing that does concern me is he said i have a lot of **** inside my tank,
I always refuel at one particular BP, except the one time i used another in fourways also BP,
I always stand outside when i refuel, and nobody touched my petrol tank or fuel lines or done any repair work on them,
What else can it be? Sugar in petrol tank?
Thought that's a myth?

Anyway i have a locked gas tank and only open from drivers side when i refuel,
Should i maybe ask they try clean it out?
Is such a thing even possible?

Dont know what else to do here, he's had my car for almost a week and no joy,

Can anybody reccomend a kia/Hyundai specialist not agent if possible?
Or better yet a mobile mechanic who can come to me who is good?

Anything else you guys reccomend?

Wasn't doing anything funny at the time, unless you count the odo clicking over to 104000 exactly then:D

so another small and stupid question from my side;

could using another key in my ignition sort out my car;

I did change battery in my keyfob recently and my car worked and started perfectly fine;
and the one kia mechanic did mention I should see a yellow key symbol and I dont see it ;

could it really be that simple?

Im gonna shoot myself if that is the case.....
