Fuel savers: i10 vs kwid vs s presso vs KUV vs GO

Keeping it under R250k (maybe with a sub R200k bracket and a sub R250k bracket) and the idea is to do city travelling as cheap as possible.
What would you choose and why?
 
What about the Figo? Although looking at the options I just realised the Fiesta and Focus have been discontinued and apparently the Figo is next. So maybe not the best choice at the moment.
 
I'm sure you can find a Grand i10 at that price, the rest are crap.
 
Get an automatic, way more fuel-efficient. My manual i10 was heavier than my wife's automatic Atos when I still had it.

I regret not waiting for an automatic i10 because that is why I sold it. Second-hand will give you better value and not much hit on fuel efficiency.

How many km do you travel? I commute 50km to the office and I would rather pay more in fuel driving a safe comfortable car, than driving a tin can.

Just don`t rev it to 9000 all the time and the manual will be lighter on fuel. Change gear when it tells you to.
 
I haven't driven a ilo in many years. I drove a spresso in december and am two months in with a kwid. Overall the kwid wins for me. Better feel, better finish, feels like more space and more fuel efficient than the spresso.
 
The Kwid scored exactly 0 in the NCAP safety ratings. I'd rather ride a motorbike, just as safe. Datsun Go was banned in multiple countries for it's lack of safety.

Only thing on that list that isn't a deathtrap is the i10.

Buy a go-kart if you want that sort of thrill. If you want a car, it's an i10 or something secondhand.
 
Atos/Santro, at least its a 4cylinder car and shares a lot of parts with the older Picantos still on the road.
also AMT version, that's essentially an automatic for cheap, as its still got a Clutch and gears, but electronics to do the shifting
so no expensive repairs like with normal torque converter automatic cars.
 
If it was my money, i would look for a I10/ Grand i10 or Suzuki Swift.
Friend got himself a i10 auto and he is loving the fuel economy.
 
The i10 is nice but horribly under powered. However it is geared for the city and thus works nicely in that aspect. I've had one as a hired car before.

My parents had a 1.4 Figo, it just lived on and on and on and with no problems other than flat battery. That said it was not used as an everyday car though.

I would go for a Kia or Hyundai.

I'm a big fan of Renault but not this rubbish they insist on producing lately. The Kwid should never have made it off paper.
