Position: Linux Systems Engineer
Reports to: ActingEngineering Executive
Overall purpose of the position
· Provide assistance to NOC on escalations
· Assist in the design and implementation of new systems and infrastructure
· Ensure existing systems and infrastructure are kept up to date
· POC of new systems and technologies
Minimum Requirements

· 5+ years IT support, servers, backups, hardware and SAN administration
· VMWare Experience – advantageous

Minimum Requirements
- MUST – Min Senior Certificate (Matric)
- MUST – Experienced with Security and Shell Scripting
- MUST – Experience with PHP, Python and Apache
- Advantage – Relevant IT Degree or Diploma
- Solid understanding of the innards of the Internet (DNS / FTP / Mail / IIS / HTTP etc…)
- Work experience working with databases, SQL Server, Stored Procedures, etc…
- Plesk Control Panel Experience – advantageous
- Overall knowledge and understand of Website Hosting
- Thorough understanding of DNS
- Thorough understanding of Mail
Ideal requirements
- 5+ years Linux server administration
· 5+ years IT support, servers, backups, hardware and SAN administration
· VMWare Experience – advantageous

- SLA’s on Services Uptime and Performance based
- 3rd Level Support to Hosting and Dedicated server clients
- System design and implementation.
- Ensure maximum availability and implementations of changes into all the environments
- Adhere to the business and change control processes
- Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues
- Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing data center environments
- Performing routine audits of systems and software
- Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system
- Troubleshooting any reported problems
- System performance tuning
- To assist the NOC Department with technical queries.
- The position includes but is not limited to the above KPA’s
