Hi peeps. Im in the process of making a decision and I dont know which one to choose, but I am looking at which option is best for Future Protection, lols if that even means anything.

I have E6750 CPU and a single HIS 4850 IceQ4, now im either thinking of getting another HIS Gfx card or a Quad Core CPU...

Im guessing the extra Gfx card is just gonna give me more hassles than rewards, also with a E6750 wouldnt that bottle neck the 2 GPU's??
So ive been thinking bout getting some sort of Quad core instead of the other GPU. If I get the Quad core I guess im more secure for the future when more Games use 4 cores and new Gfx cards come out and so on.

With Windows 7 on the release any time soon and DX11 on the Horizon I think getting another GPU would be stupid, and getting a Quad core would be more reasonable and I wouldnt end up getting dissapointed...

What you guys think??

Thnx

I always say throw your cash at gpu's, but i'd honestly say rather get a better cpu....

a 4850 aint bad....

I would definitely go for the Quad. If you're on a budget then the Q6600 if you can (it is end of life at some suppliers) or the Q8200.

Then, keep up to date with the graphics card market and sell the 4850 before the next range is released so you can get the best price possible. Then buy a single card of the said new series.

I still think SLI/Crossfire is overrated.

I would say go for the Quad because Windows 7 will actually be able to USE all that raw processing power. When DX11 comes out, new cards will be realesed that support it and you will need to get a new GPU so rather go for the Quad.

I have xfire 4850's and i say go with the CPU. Xfire is a waste of money, by the time drivers come out to fix a game you've finished it or a card thats 45% beta and cheaper is out. Saddened by my crossfire buying MISTAKE.

Thnx for the replys so quick peeps.
Yip so I thought Xfire and SLI overrated... Ok another Question... Wat Quad core?... Not getting that Q6600 to old.. Budget isnt a issue. Id like to know what model and why?? 9000's look nice and price eish

Thnx

is it really that bad?

surely all the new games that come out must support your xfire? it's just the older games, because your setup didn't exist...isn't it?

Well i get lag in POP(new one), get in the 20's(fraps) in COD5 and get out done by a 4870 1gig(most painful part of it all haha).

So ya not happy. Trying to swop for a 280GTX so if any1's interested haha.

I get 9000+ in vantage which is wat guru3d gets so its not my system slowing things down. But the reason i got xfire was for learning haha learnt not to get it again:)

um...iirc 2 x 4850's are supposed to whip 1 x 4870.... ?

I thought so to. My friend and i buy frpm the same place so the only difference in our systems are the MB's and GFX cards. But yes theres no incredible whipping going down he either wins or no noticible difference.

what mobo do you have?

Well I was gonna quad, because they don't age as fast as gpus.

1 big card will always give less hassles than two weaker cards anyway.

q9550 if possible.

sapphire 4850(dual slot) and force3d 4850(arctic cooler dual slot)

hmmm...

2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots, support ATI CrossFireX™ technology at x8 link
(PCIe x16_1 blue, PCIe x16_2 black*)

why didn't you get an x38/48 chipset rather and have true 16X + 16X instead of 8X + 8X ?

Makes no difference for me, did alot of research, theres NO, thats 0%, increase, haha i've searched everywhere guys the problems isn't anything besides drivers and overatedness.
