FYI Found Sriracha

Even though I find nothing wrong with Tabasco for every day use, and I use it myself, Sriracha is worlds apart.
To compare the two, Tabasco would be the watered down generic version; Sriracha has so much flavour to it, not just a dull vinegar aftertaste to it and a much "better burn".
Whoa there sunshine... nothing wrong with Tabasco. Or rather, Sriracha is just as common in the US. They just serve different purposes. Sriracha for me is more of a proper flavouring for bland food, whereas tabasco is a subtle flavour with a nice burn for foods that don't need the flavour enhancing. Of course the real gourmets know there's one sauce to rule them all ;)

Doh, Didn't evens see the photo! Nevertheless, I'll still give this a try.

really? where is the original made? USA?

this tastes pretty good

The most sought after one is from Thailand, produced by Hoy Fong foods. Lee Kum Kee is probably the closest that I've come to the Hoy Fong product.

I've seen the Lee Kum Kee at China Town (Sable Square) and if you ask nicely, you might be able to purchase at Thaifoon as well.

Dear xxxxx,

Thank you for your interest in our products! We strive to produce the best sauces using quality ingredients in every bottle.

Unfortunately we do not export to Africa due to export regulations. The Food and Drug Administration in Africa does not allow for the import of certain preservatives (Potassium Sobate and Sodium Bisulfite) found in our sauces. Many companies have unsuccessfully tried to distribute our products in Africa, and thus we are not pursuing this avenue for our business at this time.

Again, thank you for your inquiry. If you have any further questions or comments please do not hesitate to e-mail us.

Sincerely,
Customer Service

Hopes dashed!

To OP, sorry man but i seem to miss, where did you buy the sauce from. Would like to try it, even that i'm not big on thai. Currently on a mission to find a special Japanese spice, but still looking. If can not find it will ask the community for help :) Crazy, i know at least dozen shops in BG that sells it. Here is such a pain to find anything that is different from the mass production taste.

Better answer than I got from them when I emailed (it's in the original Sriracha thread).
They gave me the details for their Libyan distributor. I highly doubt our "FDA" is preventing the import.
