Now I only seem to be frequenting there forums if I have a complaint or problem...
Getting back to the topic I got myself this new toy and well... I'm Impressed. Its fast, responsive and you can open up every app on the phone and it still runs! - Battery life is just over one day but I didnt expect anything else. Oh it works great as a Persional Media player too (I'll see if i can post the encoding specs later)
Now my gripes.... Yes T-mobile yanked tethering support from the Google Market (Though we in SA dont use the Google Market we use OpenMarket - by Leaf! So where is our tethering apps leaf?) Although there are some apps that will work (android-wifi-tether, however it does require root access)
For those of you that want to root your G2 here's a link: WARNING: Use at own risk!http://l8rs.blogspot.com/2009/05/android-kernel-sources.html
So has anyone have any better Ideas than to Proxoid it?
Oh the blootooth stack is non functional - at least to anything but a headset or streaming music. (Google has been working on it for some time - though I dont think its priority.
So does someone here know how to install or access the google market? Other than flashing the phone?
Some nice apps the geeks here might like:
Barcode scanner - Openmarket Now you have a reason to play with QC Codes
Video Player - Openmarket (doesn't do much just scans your SD card and lists the playable files.)
AndExplorer - Openmarket (A filemanager what else?)
AndFtp - Openmarket (Now how can you work without one?)
AndroidIRC - http://androidirc.net/ For the old school guys still using IRC
ConnectBot - http://code.google.com/p/connectbot/ SSH access to your phone and anywhere else.
