Well,

Was playing Company Of Heroes 2. After I closed it I got a steam notification.

wtf.JPG

His stolen credit card now lost me a game :( and I have no faith in G2A for getting this resolved, nor do I have faith in the seller.

Yah, contact G2A, but they may give you trouble by not using their G2A Shield when you made the purchase.

Lol. It's what you get for using G2A.

G2A is but mere a marketplace, like any other online marketplace where you buy or sell it is best to start with users which have a reputable score and higher sales volumes. G2A have positive, neutral and negative ratings attached to each and every seller (and user) in their marketplace. Once you know your way you may gamble with the lesser rated users, or get an G2A Shield subscription or one-time Shield with a purchase.

There is zero risk buying from G2A if you have G2A Shield active when buying (and it's crazy to buy without it). GOG is usually the riskiest store to buy keys for on G2A as they don't notify you if a key is revoked and don't entertain requests for information that you can easily screenshot and relay to G2A.

G2A is definitely a dodgy site though. Rather buy at a slightly better site like CDKeys. Bundles Stars and Greenman Gaming also often have great prices. In the case of Company of Heroes 2, it has been dirt cheap on Steam many times.

Also, there was a Company of Heroes Humble Bundle recently. You really should have bought that. Included pretty much everything for almost nothing.

My problem with this is that G2A knows about this and to protect you they charge you extra. Look at eBay, Amazon and BidorBuy. They don't charge you extra for security. This is just a way for G2A to make more money of unexpected people.

This is why I will never support G2A.

Also it is not Steam or GOG's issue when you purchase something that has been stolen.

When did you purchase it, who did you purchase it from (marketplaceuser?), did you check for negative reviews? G2A shield?

Have bought a number of titles from G2A, never had any blocked. You can generally work out the legit stuff from the possibly illegitimate stuff.

I've had that once and G2A refunded. Cannot remember if I purchased with the Shield or not...

Honestly, if you buy from known fraudulent places like G2A then I laugh when **** goes wrong. They even sell you buyers protection to protect you from the fraud that they enable. The whole thing is just a bag of lols.

It's more akin to a racket than a legitimate business.

Even unsubscribing from their 'service' is a nightmare.

Cancelling G2A Shield took 16 clicks across 10 screens for one gamer

After you're done clicking through their endless screens they send you an email that takes up to 20 minutes to arrive, with a token that's only valid for 10 minutes. If you miss that token you have to restart the entire process. I laugh whenever someone wants to pretend G2A isn't dodgy af. They're the equivalent of the guy selling you watches from his trench coat, just digital.

Except for the actual legitimate sellers on there. Just check before you buy, stay away from day 0 AAA titles at crazy cheap prices etc. This is generally where the fraud exists.

I find older titles on there at a good price, never had any issues.

yes, their practice could be seen as unsavoury especially regarding the additional price for shield. Other sites generally just factor this in, making as if it seems you arent paying for it.

Every single platform out there has the same issues and so called "assistance to fraud". Kinguin is worse.. has anybody checked out offgamers.com?

Steam doesn't. GMG doesn't. GamerGate doesn't. GoG doesn't. Gee, I wonder why it's only the grey market key resellers who have this?

fair enough, if I can get something for as good a price from those sites, rather than G2A... I will use them. I do look around. I will go where the price is best... G2A or not... and until I get burnt, I am supporting legitimate sellers. That said, dont think I ever take the G2A shield option, as Ive never been burnt and I do my research into the seller and the title (age, developer, etc). Also look for comparisons.

You're welcome to buy wherever you want mate.I just won't support a company that enables fraud and doesn't take adequate steps to curb it. Did you know that reselling Humble Bundle keys was illegal? Yet their site is filled to the brim with them and nothing is done about it. And that's not even getting started on how games that are given away for free suddenly pop up in the 100s on their site, how pathetic their support is and how they give you the runaround if you need a refund.

I can respect it if you tell me you don't care about the ethical side of it and just want cheap games. I can't respect it if people try to pretend this site isn't a hive of scum and villainy. The owners are the worst people there.

Bought it from a market place user called World_of_games. He/She has 768661 sales and 99% positive review

Good. Glad steam implemented this.
That's what you get for supporting credit card fraud.
