Probably one of the reasons I cling to my Note 3. I dont like this curved screen and in my job having a phone without a screen protector and a cover is looking for trouble. Would love to get a Note 8 but I know I am going to be frustrated.

So it turns out my screen protector fits just fine. It was the Spigen case that was pushing it off. Little bit of hacking with a craft knife and now the case is a bit lower and all good. I'll go and get another case that is lower and then happiness.

Fanie if I read about the people complaining about the screen protectors lifting after a few days I can see myself in that situation.

In a lot of situations you probably dont need a screen protector. In my job I do. I look at my screen protector after a few months and the scratches on it then I know a phone's screen will not last without it.

A straight (non curved) glass is for me much more practical for that reason.

I would love to get a Note 8 but not with this frustration.

Ok, makes sense. Have you considered a flip cover to bypass the problem?

Yes I tried a flip cover but it also has it's limitations. I used it on my S2 for a month.

It got stuck in my shirt or pants and it is also difficult to keep clean.

Note 8 is much bigger so it is going to be a nightmare fitting it in a pocket if it has a flip cover. I also imagine one handed operation is going to be very difficult.

As a matter of interest I wonder if people had a choice (given all the discussions wrt the benefits of having a curved screen, covers, scratches ext) would prefer the curved screen to the normal screen.

Maybe I am part of a small minority and most people like the curved screen then I better zip it. LOL.

I'll take the curved screen every time. it's just gives that edge to edge feel a lot more. And the Note 8 isn't that big, just tall, and trust me, it fits in a pocket with no problem. There is a software function that can make one handed operation very easy (tap 3 times home button, and the screen shrinks towards you right hand).

If you want a small portable phone, mabe the S8/Note8 family is not for you... and you should look at some midrange smaller phones like A3/A5.

Cant live without my Note!!!! Best phone I ever bought in terms of daily use. I have learned myself to use the Note 3 coming from a S2. Note 8 is not as wide but slightly taller if I remember correctly.

Yeh exactly, there is no way you can use the Note 3 one handed in any case, right?

Why not get a Note5 or Note 4 if you want MICROSD. The Note5 is still a fantastic device.

Good idea. But I must be honest there is nothing wrong with my Note 3. Just need to replace the battery though. It is that yearly itch when the new ones come out.

Can you still get new Note 5 and is it that much of an upgrade on Note 3?
