Galaxy Note 8

Should i stick xfe/xfe/xfv or go back to xfv totally
Personal choice I'd say.
No red stuff on CFE, but also no VoLTE. Does feel a tad more lively than XFV, but probably just placebo.
Update frauencies vary for both , but can be manually controlled if you're comfortable doing an Odin flash every month.

Well with xfe i am on dec security patch. And i think xfv is still Aug.

Okay my mistake.... Its still pretty bad with the s8 plus and s7e the updates where regular
The Home_CSC..... file does not do a reset, and ensures you have the latest regional configuration.

Disclaimer: not near a PC and can't check the CSC file naming convention!

I am refering to the security patches.... The note is so slow and behind
With the Odin way, you have to flash the full firmware relase. Not just an OTA, unless you have the patience for it to arrive on your handset
I don't, and by the sound of it, you don't either ;)

I got 4 of the rewards covers from black Friday. If anyone wants PM me. I'd like to trade it for a PS4 game or something.

Full firmware? You mean, all the files? If yes, are you sure? I used to just flash the big one (also on phone and can't remember the name off hand)

Modern Samsung firmware files contain 4 sets of "flashable" information, which can be flashed singly if needed.

I always flash all 4 at the same time to avoid issues caused by, for example, a system package that needs a matching bootloader version. I don't know if it is a valid concern, but I try to be careful, even when acting like a cowboy ;)

I've never heard of certain system packages needing specific BL, but could be the case when you make jumps from big builds like nougat to orea, etc. I don't see any reason why you can't just flash the firmware only, if you are not worried about doing things manually.

That was just an example to highlight the case for hidden dependencies that may or may not exist.

The firmware portion (AP) makes up more than 80% of the download size and time required to extract and flash. Adding the other components to the flashing process has negligible impact on the effort it takes to do the flash, and has worked for me without fail.

Sure. I just mean flashing the CSC is unnecessary if you plan to update manually in any case

A few pages back I asked about cover/screen protector combos.

I'm now using a body glove curved glass screen protector and a superfly clear silicone cover on the back. Works like a bomb. The screen protector sticks perfect and the cover meets it so no lifting.

I got the orchid grey phone, so the clear cover is sweet.
