Galaxy Note9

Surely you can contact them with your IMEI or something. Otherwise someone has to go dumpster diving
Samsung service centre tells me the additional "gift" is only available for the customers who bought directly from Samsung.

You get a camera pod, some USB connector for dex and another goodie.

I think MTN and Vodacom hand out R500 vouchers.
That's not additional. That's the standard welcome pack that everyone gets.

Ah ok. What's the 3rd item?
You get the normal value pack and then from samsung store you also get a gear S3 watch.
I just received mine

Picked mine up on Friday, noticed there was a strange light bleed beyond the bezel on both sides in various areas, as if there was no 'paint' on that particular area. Gave the phone back to vodacom yesterday, apparently their repair center is rejecting it as OBF stock. Kinda pissed off atm, no phone and getting BS from vodacom for their B grade stock.

Some Samsung Galaxy Note 9 displays are exhibiting signs of light leakage

Go directly to your nearest Samsung store, show them your POP (contract docs/receipt) they likely won't accept it themselves but you can request a letter stating they have inspected the device as OBF and Vodacom must return it.

Just got off the phone with the dude at the vodacom store, apparently it has to go to the product specialist in JHB which will take 3-7 days. I told him if this is the case, rip up the contract I'll go pickup a new phone from MTN tomorrow. He will call me by 4pm with a solution. Really annoyed with this level of service, its a clear OBF why would it need to go to a 'specialist' to see what anyone can see lol.

"...There are some Galaxy Note 9 owners who believe that what appears to be a light leak is really an illusion that appears due to the curved screen and reflections from inside the display...."

illusion xD , if i cover the entire display and it still shows the same pattern on both sides, I must be David Copperfield.

I've seen this same comment at a few other Note9 forums. Very weird, as the Note9 has a higher peak brightness
I was very disappointed this morning when I unpacked mine and went outside. It was overcast and I could barely see what was on the screen. With auto brightness enabled and the slider all the way cranked up, the screen was still dim. Even dimmer than my pixel 2 XL, which btw has one of the crappiest screens I've seen in a flagship. Anyways, once the sun came out the screen lit up quite a bit, making everything readable. So I assume the light/lux sensor doesn't want to crank up the brightness to the max when it's overcast. It also seems the screen goes beyond the actual brightness limit once it's been set to the max and when in direct sunlight.

But comparing the brightness next to the note 8, the 8 is brighter. Colors alse seem somewhat washed out compared to the 8. Hopefully something that can be fixed with a software update. Just hoping that some devices aren't bad batches.

Otherwise, this phone is a serious beast.

I get you.

WRT washed out display, this may be due to Samsung trying harder and harder to better match the colour accuracy to particular Colour Gamuts like DCI-P3, sRGB and Adobe RGB gamut.

The Note8 also looked washed out vs. S7 Edge and Note7, but it matched those colour gamuts almost exactly with each Display setting, with Adaptive having the widest support. With the Note9 they may have gone even further, which will look washed out for us, but look really good for those coming from LCD wanting realistic colours.

Makes sense. I have to say when I browsed through my existing gallery most images did look more realistic than on the 8. 8 seems to have slightly more saturated colours.

Where are you based? CPT or JHB trying to guess when mine will be arriving
I'm in JHB.
Yesterday I emailed the person who's details was in the registration email and asked when they will be shipping it. He immediately contacted the courier and was told that they would dispatch it yesterday.
