Hi Does anyone know of a maps software for android with Southern african maps, if so which one(s) and what do youlike most about it!
I am willing to pay for the maps of course, anything that will get me away from using my airtime to download maps from google.

thanx

I have Ndrive and Copilot.

Copilot is a better product, but I think the Ndrive Maps are more up to date.
I am using Copilot.

Can you try Waze? http://world.waze.com/download/

I only installed it on a friend's Black Berry this morning. So I'm not sure how good it is yet. But free Voice navigation and Traffic congestion (if enough Waze users are in your area)

Oh thanks you guys for the contributions, I guess I have a choice to make: Things I have noted...
1. Waze - I see seems to be very cool and idea of a free LIVE traffic update, and it seems pretty upto date, looking now from my PC at the moment and the CONS, not many users and the roads are far from what´s on the ground (my street is not there), understandably because its a new service and relies on people that use the software, which are still few in SA it seems. The other thing it goes over the air to update other service and if this uses some sort of http upload, then I´m back at square 1, AVOID data usage. but a very cool and promising app I´d say.
2. Ndrive looks cool €59.90 sourthen africa maps - very cool I downloaded it from the android market place and it says there´s a 7 days trial but you have to buy I dont see a way, I will get the maps just now. I already download funny voices, and additional languages which is something I like as my phone is not even in english anyways (zulu also available)
3. copilot €35 in cost for sourthen african maps - seems quite cheap and people seem to recommend it here. damn no trial version. Can anyone tell me if the picture below means: there are no camera alerts, lane assist (ok maybe not so important) but ClearTurn isn´t that some sort of accuracy on turns? coPilot Southern Africa maps
4. Does anybody have a comparison of these features for nDrive? I would really aprreciate it.

Hi Pirata,

What happens is that the initial map is downloaded but will then stay on your mobile until there is a new version of the map available. I've a friend using a Free app on her X10. You can download the whole SA and install on your phone but it does not have voice navigation. Think it is called MapDroid http://tedp.id.au/mapdroid/

I have both NDrive and Copilot on mine

Copilot has better maps and guidance in my opinion. NDrive has more and better points of interest.

You can import cameras into Copilot quite easily. It can even import TomTom camera data.
