I just picked up my new Galaxy S LCD and digitizer from the post office. Going to swap out the old cracked screen and make sure everything is properly connected. There is some glue especially for cellphones that is used to hold the LCD in place. Does anyone know about this glue and where in Cape Town I could find it?

I managed to replace it without needing any glue. The LED comes with a sticky back and the old glue that was on the phone was more than sufficient. Phone is like new again, you would never know that I replaced the screen unless I told you :) Cost me R430 to import the screen, including delivery etc. Love my Galaxy S :)

Took me about half an hour to do the replacement. Most of the time was spent removing the broken screen which was glued down pretty good. The screen shatter into tiny pieces which fly everywhere when removing. My fingers were like glitterballs afterwards.

PS. I tried to delete this thread after putting my phone together but couldn't...

Im actually wondering where you imported the screen from? My old Galaxy 5 seems to be in need of a screen replacement, so Im hoping for a similar painless solution :D

best to leave threads like these in place ... might be helpful to the next forumite in need of some ideas ;)

Need a screen replacement too. Can you post a link from where you purchased yours?

Thanks.

Purchased from Cellular Nationwide Network. Honk Kong based. Took just less than 3 weeks to get here.
I managed to find a discount coupon code as well which gave me 20% off :) If your buying something just google for coupons. Shipping only cost $5 from Hong Kong. Real cheap. The guy marked the package as a gift and valued it at $15 so I didn't have to pay anything extra at the post office. I didn't even ask for this. Saved me a couple of bucks. All in all, I would purchase from there again as the prices are just about the cheapest you can find online, anywhere in world. Link:
