Galaxy S3 - Pick n Pay FAIL !

Response by Pick n Pay:

The interest in the Samsung Galaxy S3 was overwhelming and took us by surprise. Even though we had stock initially, it did not meet the huge demand we encountered. We are now back in stock and have extended the deal until 13/8/12 , available at all Pick n Pay Hypers. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 @ TOTAL of R279.00 PM X 24 MONTHS
( R144 PER MONTH + R135.00 SUBSCRIPTION ON EVERYDAY OFF-PEAK 120 X24 MONTHS)
(per minute billing) T’s&C’s apply

Wow, that's a BIG UP to Pick n Pay, i honestly never expected a response from you, especially here on MyBB :D
I'm signing up today !

Thanks Pick n Pay

Pick n Pay isn't a verified account so don't get too excited. It might just be SPAR trolling. :)

Also very impressed. Called my local Hyper to see if they had stock and they do.
Seriously thinking about picking one up this afternoon.

Is there a data pkg included or available, these smartphones eat data so if there is no package included your actual cost will be a lot more

There is no data package included, but you can get a decent data bundle for a decent price if your with a decent SP aka. Cell C :D

Where's this deal advertised? Can't seem to find it....

Pick N Pay Hyper in Ottery knows nothing about this. :(

Lol I can confirm that this deal is for reals. Just got mine at PnP Hyper in Woodmead. Speak to Mosala, he knows his stuff.

The gal I spoke to insists that the deal was only for that first week, I told her about this thread and everything. Guess I should phone customer care and find out what's what.

PnP Hyper in Fourways also didn't know about it, but the guy at Woodmead was aware of the extension of the deal. Make them recheck their DealerWeb, it's on there...

Underwhelming. Still cannot understand how a retailer cannot plan properly for a sale of this magnitude. Not too dissimilar to Steers and their burger special.

By the way, the total amount you pay is actually R305 because there's a compulsory itemised billing charge of R26 >.<
Just found out from a pick n pay hyper branch.

I thought they not allowed to do that any longer??

Beats me, i should think that a consumer should have the right to say no to any add on services which come with a charge.

I was talking to an MTN consultant about the CPA in relation to mobile line contracts. Apparently some of the changes that came into effect when the CPA was signed into law were reversed e.g. if you take out a contract and decide to cancel, you will have to pay the outstanding amount plus a ridiculous cancellation fee. I can understand when it comes to contracts which come with a phone that it becomes difficult to cancel and work out how much you owe regarding something you've taken possession but if it's just a contract on the phone line then surely you should be able to cancel without necessarily paying such a huge penalty.

Sorry...went a bit off topic there!

I'm hoping to get this deal before the stores run out of stock.
