Guys, this is getting annoying!

I have this phone for about a month now and I don't know if I got a bad apple or not.

The battery doesn't even last a day.

I was watching TV last night and it was charging. It was off. As soon as the light turned green I unplugged it and a few minutes later I went to bed.

This was around 09:30.

This morning when I woke up at around 5 the battery was on 39%! How the hell does that happen?? All unnecessary are turned off most of the time (GPS, bluetooth, etc)

The other issue is the phone gets VERY warm. Sometimes when its in my inner jacket pocket, I can actually feel how warm it is when it comes into contact with my body.

Are there any S4 owners who're experiencing these issues?

Have you checked with a task manager and what applications and processes are running?

I'll try that in a few. I'm actually thinking of resetting it completely and see if that won't fix the issue. Failing that I'll have to take it back, but then I'll be stuck without a phone for however long they'll take to fix it.

Is your bluetooth or wifi on ?
Some people blame WhatsApp for draining batteries on some phones, don't know if its applicable here.

Am I the only one that charges my phone overnight while I sleep?
Is this a bad thing?

Wait wait, you said the phone was OFF and the battery depleted to 39% overnight?

Wifi is only on when I'm at home. I do have WhatsApp installed though, but can it really be that resource intensive? My wife has an S3 and her phone easily lasts two days. She also uses WhatsApp

No, sorry. I put it off to charge it, since it charges faster when its off. Before I went to bed I put it on again.

The only things active on the pull down menu at this moment are: Vibrate, Mobile Data, Power Saving, Air Gestures and Sync. This is with the original firmware.

Try turning off the air gestures?

Make life easy for yourself and get BetterBatteryStats and see what's keeping the phone awake.

you might want to try disabling maps.
I had similar issues until I disabled maps, and now get around 2 days battery :)
Not as good as I would like, but still much better

OK, I hardly ever use it anyway. :)

Downloading it as I type this.

How do you turn it off? Where's the option?

To give you guys an idea of how bad it is: At about 9 this morning I plugged the phone to charge it via USB. It was on 19%. When I unlcoked it now the fscking battery was on 17% :wtf:

That means that whatever its doing, it uses so much power that it negates the 5 volts from the USB!

I've found that most USB ports don't provide nearly enough juice to charge the S4.

I bet it's Google Services, there is a huge bug with it and Google are taking their own bloody time to fix it all.
Go to Settings -More tab -Location Services and turn off WiFi&Mobile net location.

Sorry to hijack - is better battery stats only a paid for version?

I think the S4 was released with a lot of issues. When I got mine I had random reboots. My Wifi didn't want to connect to to my D-Link AP (apparently a known issue between samsung and dlink). Some days I was without sound. And some other issues as well. I was really disappointed. I didn't want to load a custom ROM like I did on my previous phones, but couldn't hold it with all these issues, so I tried it out of desperation. I loaded the Omega ROM with it's accompanied modem and all issues are fixed. No problems for over 2 weeks now. I got 2 days and 16 hours on the phone before it complained that there was only 15% left.

(proof reading this and it really felt like Billy Mays was reading an ad..........but wait, there's more)
